(I almost posted something in the frightening perspective thread about how it’s not difficult to imagine a future in which certain communities bicker about how they deserve more water for their lawn sprinklers, while other communities may not have access to water for drinking or bathing, but for now I should prob just say…)

Man.

I had a roommate who had a dog who loved beer. Like would chug every last drop he could get. If you put a full beer in his bowl, he wouldn’t stop lapping til the bowl was empty. If a beer spilled on the floor, he would guard it and growl at you until he got to lick it all up.

I otherwise always thought gusher was a weird name for a dog.

My old retriever loved coors light. Not so much other beers. But man, he would sit next to you and stare at you the moment he heard a can crack open.

I had a black lab, Licorice, who would drink anything. Beer, whiskey, tequila, didn't matter. She would knock beers off of the coffee table so she could clean up the mess.
One halloween, one of the guys in the restaurant I worked at out up a sign at the Crossing. Free beer and our address. Figuring we couldn't stop it, we bought 3 kegs. Someone left a tap open and there was a stream of beer running down the hallway. Licorice was lapping it up as fast as it came out of the keg.

San Jose is paying people to rip up their lawns and put drought resistant plants. I’m thinking of it. Many neighbors have already done that.

I had a neighbor who did that. Just looks overgrown with weeds. I'm sure it can be done and look good, this guy failed miserably.

This is a big reason why we bought land in the Empire. We sit on top of the largest aquifer in the State of Colorado. We have a capped artesian well in our backyard.

I really like my gravel yards. It takes me less than an hour to weed them by hand. We have one vestigial plot of sod in the backyard in the Springs. It is about 10 foot wide and 16 foot long. The dogs think it makes a good toilet so we will likely keep it and so far it hasn't required any sprinkler use. I use an electric weedeater to cut it down every month or so, and that is it for the lawn work.
