Where’s the million dollar idea thread?

Do you know that “drop-stitch” material that stand up paddle boards are made out of? It’s inflatable, but rigid once inflated?

I wanna design a canoe, or even rowboat, made out of that stuff. Rigid enough to stand up on, but can also be rolled up and stored in a closet.

Anyone know of any such products?

Quite frankly, I’m trying to ease up on the socioeconomic debates in every thread. And since I’m the only one who ever brings it up, it should all but disappear right quick.

Think imma try tarp camping this weekend. Rather than bring a tent, just bring a tarp and set up between two trees like a tent. Anybody else done?

I did one impromptu night on the Tahoe rim trail, when I fashioned a poncho as a shelter between two trees during an unexpected rainy night.

I enjoy a hammock for a good nap, but don’t sleep well in them all night.

And knock on wood, the skeeters seem to leave you alone at this elevation once the sun goes down and the temp promptly drops like 30 degrees.

it was my go-to mode for most of my field work because you rarely had flat ground and even when you did, you were too exhausted after hiking through the jungle for half a day to set up a tent

i did find that a thermarest improves the comfort level quite a bit

Nice. I could see it being a benefit when flat ground is otherwise scarce. A thermarest would make it cozier too.

I suppose weather is a big factor too. The one night I did hammock camp, it got chilly, and being off the ground seemed to make my ass that much colder.

Maybe I need to give it another chance.
