Man.

I really don’t feel like arguing. The ironic thing is, I really did think we were agreeing too.

The sun’s shining here. Imma try to just enjoy that for now.

We agree that we need to use less water resources in the desert, yes.

Yes!

And that golf courses and major corporations should bear more responsibility than individual folks.

Are we getting along?!

I hope so.

Cuz frankly I’d rather just get all cheeky and Tuesday boozeday’d in the sat shack for the rest of the day.

If golf courses aren't allowed in the desert then we better not have basketball arenas and football stadiums. It's a no fun zone.

I wanna build a basketball arena on the moon.

With 1/6th the gravity, even BofH could dunk.

Could you imagine the highlight reels in the MoonBA?

1 basketball arena vs how many golf courses?

No clue. But if the idea is that water shouldn't be wasted on recreational activities then it can't just be activities Ousdahl doesn't like. Lots of wasted water to operate/maintain/clean arenas & stadiums.

Give Besos about 2-3 decades and that might not sound so far fetched.

Among those, basketball is best, but don’t expect BasketballJayhawk to grasp that.

But if we’re really gonna go there - what’s the water consumption of an arena or stadium compared to a golf course?

And heck, if we’re gonna compare sports and recreation, I like fishing. Fishing requires water to be left in a river, not taken out of it.

And somehow, that may be the most controversial stance so far. Whaddyall mean leave water in a river?!?!?!

Far fetched, eh?

Good point!

We need to have those frisbee-fetching dogs for the halftime shows in MoonBA games too

30k+ fans. 40 games a year in NBA. Toilets and cleaning alone waste plenty of water that would otherwise not be used to cross my personal threshold of unnecessary if we are classifying golf courses as unnecessary.

https://auduboninternational.org/acsp-for-golf/

per wikipedia, there are ~2,100 courses that participate

if the figure from the other link i posted is even remotely close, that’d be 2,100/16,000 total courses = roughly 13%

guess it could be worse, but that percentage is hardly something to toot your horn about

Just because they aren't members/ don't participate in ASCP doesn't mean they aren't doing anything. They teach these kinds of things at Golf Management / Turfgrass Maintenance Schools/Colleges all around the country. It's a huge focus of the golf industry around the globe.

Driving home, I saw a spectacular bolt of lightning that looked like it struck somewhere up near the pass.

Stop at the grocery store, and fire trucks are lit up in that direction.

And, fuuuuuuuuhck.

This is what happens when you spend 2min on google and think you're an expert on everything.

Do you even know what the ASCP is? It's an education and certification program. You have to pay to be a member. Just because a course isn't a member / certified by the ASCP doesn't mean they aren't doing similar things or working with local conservation specialists. Or just utilizing the skills they learn in golf management or agronomy or whatever type school they attended.

so then provide something to substantiate your opinion

and yes, i know exactly what the organization is. do you really think the few hundred dollars are prohibitive for the majority of courses?

Yes. What value does it provide that can't be obtained through numerous other avenues? They're in education and certification.

These techniques are taught in golf management school and/or in agronomy school and/or with a degree in Agriculture.

Golf course superintendents often times already have degrees and certifications. I am in no way saying the ASCP is bad, they aren't, they're good (and backed by USGA money), but they're not the only 1 in the game.

There are 7 courses in IL i see listed and i believe all are in Chicago land area. That tells me a lot about what i need to know about their target market.

You have zero experience with golf course maintenance / ownership / management. It shows. Stick to turtles hipster.
