The issue for me is I sort of rely on the crowds to tell me when I should pick my head up and watch.BasketballJayhawk wrote: ↑Thu Jul 22, 2021 10:06 am My 7 year old daughter likes watching the gymnastics so we will watch that when it's on. I will watch the mens basketball, but will likely cheer for USA to lose (weird, i know).

I will probably watch the gymnastics stuff with my daughter. She flips and cartwheels all over the damn house.

pre-programming came on last night and i couldn’t change the channel fast enough
there are rumblings that, even without covid, the olympics have become too big to “succeed”...aka, it costs too damn much now to be globe-trotting across the planet every two years
solution: designate permanent regional locations for summer and winter games. north america, south america, europe, asia, africa, and australia...then just rotate the games between those sites so that new, single-use infrastructure isn’t being built ad nauseum

I mean, that would make sense, except that the Lyle Lanleys of the world make quite a mint off selling cities that they'll be different.TraditionKU wrote: ↑Thu Jul 22, 2021 10:52 am pre-programming came on last night and i couldn’t change the channel fast enough

There's a dude from Lawrence who didnt attend LHS or Free State because he went pro at 14, was home schooled and wont get vaccinated swimming in the Olympics for the US.

Just as exciting watching on TV?BasketballJayhawk wrote: ↑Sat Jul 24, 2021 4:36 pm Swimming is just as exciting without fans. So that's a plus.
I'm pretty sure it's more exciting for the athletes/swimmers to have fans in the stands.

Buch of JUNK!
Can we send the fuckers back home and let some guys who give a damn play?
I know it's only one game but Kevin Durant tarnished his legacy in this game.
Well, at least they will beat Iran.
P.S. I completely understand that it's hard to develop a TEAM with such little time and they are playing against guys who have played together and understand "international" basketball better than they do - but come on man, these guys shouldn't be losing to France no matter what valid excuses someone wants to use.

Re: usa olympics
Officials didn't do the US any favors.
Bam got smacked in the face with an elbow and they called the foul on him.
Then he gets mugged under the basket on the next trip with no call.
Still, down 2, with 20 seconds, and you get 4 shots to tie or go up by 1, and miss them all?
Outscored 16-2 in last 4 minutes.
First loss for Men's Olympic Basketball since 2004.
Shameful.

US kinda looking suspect across a lot of sports
women’s soccer, men’s b-ball, women’s gymnastics, women’s swimming
i’m sure the total count will be just fine, but it sure seems like the US is seeing a down year, relatively speaking
