Bilas says ACC and SEC should merge or have thrown the idea around. If that happens then what....big 10 big xii and pac 12 merge? So.....2 conferences and paid players? Sounds a lot like NBA light.

Is it even a conference if you only play some teams once every other year in hoops and once every three or four years in football?

That would be 31 teams. If you drop vandy, pitt and BC you get to 28. Which.....is still too many to all play each other in a basketball season....unless you eliminate non con play. Have a conference tourney and pkay the other conference winner for the "title". Which, is the NBA again.

Plus if they get rid of March madness they lose most of the appeal of college hoops for the average fan.

You think NIL is why UT and OU are leaving the big 12? Haven't they been having these discussions for almost a year?

Blair Kerkhoff about to be on ESPNU Radio to specifically talk about KU in regards to the conference realignment...should be interesting.

Kerkhoff, doesn't know diddly squat about the current state of KU Athletics. He is on either 610 or 810 locally and doesn't provide any sort of news other than letting himself get interrupted by the host multiple times.

Yeah, he didn't add much other than that he doesn't see the B1G expanding just because the SEC is...or at least they don't want to be looked at like that was the reason they expanded.

Blair is a good dude. But too kind for this business.

Are we all in agreement that, should there be a B1G offer on the table, we accept it and leave tomorrow, and sort out the details later?

And pay the 75 to 80 million dollar penalty?

There are lots of moving pieces here. If the conference disintegrates (which is what will happen if there is a scenario where schools like KU start peeling off), that won't be a $75mm problem.

Zero hesitation.

^^^^^ This. Because I can guarantee if B1G offers ISU, they're doing the same thing. Similar for Baylor/OSU and the PAC.
