I do hope OKC offers Graham so he doesn't take any kind of hometown discount.

True, but it's unlikely NO would match a 4 yr/$80+ million offer.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Mon Aug 02, 2021 1:54 pmHe's RFA, so not much he can do to prevent a sign and trade.NDballer13 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 02, 2021 1:30 pm Isn't Lonzo a FA? Well I think the question is if Charlotte would want Lonzo at that price.NDballer13 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 02, 2021 2:37 pmTrue, but it's unlikely NO would match a 4 yr/$80+ million offer.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Mon Aug 02, 2021 1:54 pmHe's RFA, so not much he can do to prevent a sign and trade.NDballer13 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 02, 2021 1:30 pm Isn't Lonzo a FA? I don't see why anyone would want Lonzo at that price, lol. MJ has made some questionable front office decisions in his day, so I shouldn't act surprised if it does happen. I just don't see why you would pay him that much to play behind his brother.

Yeah, seems like the motivation is not being driven by on-the-court production.

Lonzo signs a contract with Chicago the second free agency opens. No tampering at all, I'm sure.

Sign and trade i think. Teams have been working behind the scenes.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Mon Aug 02, 2021 5:13 pm Lonzo signs a contract with Chicago the second free agency opens. No tampering at all, I'm sure.

That makes more sense--I didn't see that detail in the woj bomb.BasketballJayhawk wrote: ↑Mon Aug 02, 2021 5:16 pmSign and trade i think. Still, someone tell me with a straight face that Lonzo hasn't spoken with Chicago before 6 EDT today.

New orleans has absolutely been speaking with chicago. Probably even before the draft.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Mon Aug 02, 2021 5:26 pmThat makes more sense--I didn't see that detail in the woj bomb.BasketballJayhawk wrote: ↑Mon Aug 02, 2021 5:16 pmSign and trade i think. Guess it means a good chance Graham sticks in Charlotte.
I don't think they'd stick with Rozier past the AS break. Ball-Graham-Bouknight core for the backcourt for one contract.

Bouknight makes me think the exact opposite. Tbh, i think Graham will get an offer above Charlottes QO and they won't match it.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Mon Aug 02, 2021 5:35 pm Guess it means a good chance Graham sticks in Charlotte.

I don't think Charlotte was ever actually going after Lonzo. Just doesn't make sense.

Pretty clear, though, that Monk not being retained had a ton to do with Bouknight falling in the draft.BasketballJayhawk wrote: ↑Mon Aug 02, 2021 5:44 pmBouknight makes me think the exact opposite. Rozier is too old/expensive to extend beyond this season.
Of course Graham will get an offer about the QO, but I have a hard time believing that Charlotte is going to find a better deal on the open market. Not to mention the familiarity with the coach/system, etc. that Graham already has. Unless the offer is astronomically high (and good for Devonte' then!), I see Charlotte matching.

Cam Payne goes for 3/$19m
McConnell goes for 4/$35m
If OKC offers Graham, I'd guess something like 4/$40 based on those contracts. I think CHA wants a hometown discount of less than $10m/year.

Charlotte clearly favored Ball and Rozier this year. I don't get it. Especially not Rozier.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Mon Aug 02, 2021 5:55 pm Cam Payne goes for 3/$19m

Re: Jayhawks in the NBA 2020/2021 edition
Well Rozier actually played pretty damn well this year, and Graham and Ball had injury issues pretty much all season, so they needed all of those guards just to get through the season.
But, Rozier has no place in Charlotte's long-term plans with his contract expiring. I actually read a conjecture that the Lonzo rumors was Charlotte trying to kill Devonte's value on the open market. Basically trying to say they will match any offer and flip him, so don't even bother coming in with aggressive offers.
