So hard to understand some words. Probably should put subtitles on. But awesome so far. I am like 5 episodes in.

I have tried it a few times and it hasn't stuck yet. Maybe the next gap I have in shows I will try it again. I just find it tiring to have to work so hard to figure out what the heck they are saying and I still miss words that inevitably change your understanding of what is going on.

I didn't know I had HBO Max until I watched the Flight Attendant. I need to check to see if they have put out anything else good to watch since we finished that.shindig wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 7:35 amStarted this last night....awesome so far. the language barrier is just part of the deal with that show. it is a very good show.twocoach wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 9:19 amI have tried it a few times and it hasn't stuck yet. Re: Finding New Shit on TV
My wife isn't very good at sorting through different dialects so I end up spending half the time translating instead of enjoying. So whether it's a great show or not, it reduces my enjoyment of it. We'll see.MICHHAWK wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 9:24 amthe language barrier is just part of the deal with that show. it is a very good show.twocoach wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 9:19 amI have tried it a few times and it hasn't stuck yet. Re: Finding New Shit on TV
I do on Netflix, Amazon Prime and HBO. Sometimes it's just hard to hear things (especially when they whisper) or there is a lot of dialogue going on. It's great because if I miss something, I just rewind, and ah, that's what she said.
Re: Finding New Shit on TV
Constant source of conflict and consternation between the wife and me. She likes to have subtitles and I think it’s very distracting. Movies/TV shows are audiovisual media. When you are busy reading the subtitles you are missing facial expressions, body language and other visual cues, not to mention cinematographic subtilties. It’s really hard not to read the subtitles and focus on the visuals
Re: Finding New Shit on TV
Just a reminder: DEVS, on Hulu, is quite the entertainment.
Re: Finding New Shit on TV
I should. My wife has always done it and i made fun of her for it....now i need them for some shows, but she'd give me so much shit that its a net gain to just not understand some words LOL
