The tank part makes me think he won't get more than 1 good shot off per game.BasketballJayhawk wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 10:01 amCam looks good in the training videos I have seen. If Cam can hold his ground against other team’s second unit better than Mitch, instant upgrade.
And I think his jumper will have growing pains, but he also shot 45% from deep on 110 attempts last year.
Even if he’s not chucking, just the fact he can could pull the other team’s big outta the paint and free up space for everybody else

I think his shots will come off pick and rolls where he fades out instead of rolling and can shoot over the switching guard. Hes not gonna create his own shots often i dont imagine.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 10:03 amThe tank part makes me think he won't get more than 1 good shot off per game.BasketballJayhawk wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 10:01 amCam looks good in the training videos I have seen. That's all I care about. If he boxes out and doesn't completely fuck up on defense, great, play him over Mitch if he's better at that.
There's just not a doubt in my mind that Mitch would have also been a D-2 All-American last year, so it just seems like kind of a wash unless this guy can truly stroke 3's at 50% and get his shots off.
Re: 2022 CBB Season
You guys think we’ll see any more Jalen at the 5?

It will be pick and pop, but even more common I think will be the trailer three. I'm not sure he can handle the close out, though. It's just a lot faster game.TDub wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 10:05 amI think his shots will come off pick and rolls where he fades out instead of rolling and can shoot over the switching guard. Sure is nice to talk about Kansas basketball...
Good start to the weekend. Ready for the season to start (fingers crossed).

But doesn’t that all depend on Cam?CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 10:11 amNo and thank god. That was just a band aid.
CB playing the 5 against a top 5 draft pick center--in hindsight, that ass whipping was coming.
Or more generally, some better option as a backup 5?
We had Mitch all last year, and still played Jalen as the biggest guy on the floor

I am high on Clemence playing as a freshman. I think he's our most ready guy.ousdahl wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 10:16 amBut doesn’t that all depend on Cam?CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 10:11 amNo and thank god. That was just a band aid.

Re: 2022 CBB Season
Clemence has the height - not sure about the bulk.
But Mitch didn't have the bulk and played as DMac's backup.

"still played Jalen as the biggest guy on the floor"
wut?
Biggest guy is not simply rebounding numbers ( but Jalen was a hell of a rebounder ).

Re: 2022 CBB Season
You think? (Re: Clemence) Will the much faster game not be even more apparent for a true freshman?
Dude averaged 10 and 5 as a HS senior in bumfuck western KS
Compared to Cam who averaged 24 and 9 on a bumfuck MO D2 team
Perhaps also worth mentioning is Cam’s got 20+ pounds on the kid

Re: 2022 CBB Season
Purely out of necessity, and with no better options.
And even then, out of necessity (cuz Mitch was a subpar backup), we were dabbling with Jalen at the 5 - yes, as the biggest tallest dude on the floor…for our team, at least
Re: 2022 CBB Season
Maybe we start giving guys nights off like in the nba for rest.
I only came to kick some ass...
Rock the fucking house and kick some ass.

Re: 2022 CBB Season
But Jalen at the 5 was intriguing just cuz how often can a 5 man pull their guy out to the perimeter and take them off the dribble

I think with the 3 of them, we won't have to play Jalen at the 5.ousdahl wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 10:23 am You think? (Re: Clemence) Will the much faster game not be even more apparent for a true freshman?

The stats comparison is dismissing a ton of different caveats. Clemence is a pro prospect that has only played against other pro prospects the last 4 years. Cam's a different story all the way around.
Re: 2022 CBB Season
I guess I didn’t realize there were that many pro prospects in suburban Wichita
But yea, who knows with a D2 player

Re: 2022 CBB Season
There's basically nothing about last season's offense that I want to relive, and Jalen hit the freshman wall faster than anyone not named Russell Robinson.
But, while it's easy to drag the players, it was just a really poor roster construction and they never got anything consistently going. I wonder how much of it was putting too many eggs in the Cade Cunningham basket and striking out.
