I cannot because that would be the ideal situation. Exactly what I would want to happen.

This isn't a seat you should get to grow into.

I hope I’m wrong but this feels like a swing and a miss.

I have never had a conversation with any of the KU players so I have no reason to believe that it is or isnt a farce.
You didnt go to college?
I did. Are you just assuming that your college experience that likely happened before the invention of social media accurately represents the feelings of all college students since then?
Im assuming college athletes have largely remained the same in the past 20 or so years yes

I still don't know who we should/could have gotten that was better?

Gregg Popovich?

We let Snacks go to Texas, which indicates to me that Self thinks Case is better than Snacks. So we upgraded our staff.

Which makes me think even more that Self truly thinks he's deserving.

We've discussed in the past how KU ties shouldn't be a factor for a coaching candidate here until like attributes #4 and 5.

But even then, there are like 4 or so legitimate, attainable candidates with KU ties that are better hires than Case.

So goddamn dumb.

Wrong. It was an opportunity to upgrade. We're taking a big chance on a guy whose biggest selling point is that he's a film room guru. It might work out, but Case's resume to this point is laughably inferior to Howard's when we hired him.

Who could we have gotten that is undisputably better for KU?

Nobody can provide any names so far.

And why did Self pick Case if there are better people that our fans know we could/should have gotten? What is Self's motivation for making a decision our fans know is shitty? Why/how do our fans know how to do a better job than Self at hiring his own staff?

Start with someone that has recruited a single player to D1. Been to a single AAU tourney as a recruiter. There are about 1000 of them in D1 right now--narrow it down from there.

So does Self suck at his job? Is he doing it on purpose? If there were thousands of clearly better picks it can't be an accident that he picked Case.

Snacks was at KU about 6 years more than I thought he would be.

“So does Self suck at his job?”

Yes.
That’s exactly what we are trying to say here.
You nailed it.

There is nothing in between Self making a decision with his heart and doing the right thing which is riskier than hiring someone proven and possibly being a bad call over the thousands of calls he has to make and Self sucking at his job.

He said a thousand more qualified picks. I'd say if that is true then that is sucking at your job.

Here's what I think....Self is better at his job than we are. He knows if Jeremy Case is a good coach. We don't. He knows what qualified candidates are out there and interested in the KU job. We don't.

I will trust Self on this one.

Some people would have been happier with Larry Brown which is LOL worthy.

This is only compounded by Self himself by coming out at the beginning of the summer and saying he was really happy with the early and exciting candidates expressing interest in the position.

Yes, "Self is better at his job than we are". That doesn't mean he's perfect and has never made mistakes and shouldn't be questioned.

"He knows if Jeremy Case is a good coach".
That's almost like me saying I know you're a good golfer based on my only seeing you carry a bag of clubs.

We may not know "what qualified candidates are interested in the KU job" but some of us probably know some guys who are more "qualified" than Jeremy Case.

I have very little issue with Case getting the job/role but I would be a fool not to believe there weren't other viable candidates - if not more beneficial.

Self has been working with Case for multiple years. He didn't just pick someone with his "heart" otherwise it would have been Sherron Collins on the bench....and then I'd be in the same camp as the unhappy people.

Also, Case can't be ANY worse than KT and/or Snacks who are/were/have been awful.

Nobody has named any names who would be undeniably better than Case and who also wanted to come work with Self.... if there are a thousand then it should be an easy 50 person list or so to create.
