He said that it was not true that the intelligence community had reached the conclusion that the Afghan government was guaranteed to collapse. He didn't say that he guaranteed that it wouldn't happen.BasketballJayhawk wrote: ↑Thu Aug 19, 2021 6:41 pmtwocoach wrote: ↑Mon Aug 16, 2021 9:53 amCan you send me a link to that? Context is important. Listening to the question asked is important. Listening to the words of the answer are important.
Re: Afghanistan
You only hear what you want to hear. Multiple sources have confirmed that the intelligence community urged him to prepare for this because it was exactly what was going to happen. There are multiple interviews now with him lying about this. That press conference and the CBS (iirc) interview.twocoach wrote: ↑Fri Aug 20, 2021 9:25 amHe said that it was not true that the intelligence community had reached the conclusion that the Afghan government was guaranteed to collapse. ...but tbh you did exactly what i knew you would which was a) not respond at all or b) do mental gymnastics to defend your guy.
Have a great day!

just because he was wrong doesn’t mean he lied

He lied again by saying we would not leave any of our people behind no matter how long it takes (before 31st or after), only for his own people to confirm they don't even know who or how many people they still have in the area.
I am sort of surprised you guys are defending his glaring mistakes and lies over the lastfew weeks on this, but i know you're just being good teammates.
Re: Afghanistan
Either he is lying or the generals/intelligence community are lying by saying they told him this was going to happen. Which is it?TraditionKU wrote: ↑Fri Aug 20, 2021 10:24 am i’m not defending his mistakes at all
lying requires intent
Re: Afghanistan
Did you think only Republicans lie when they get flustered/angry with hard questions during press conferences/interviews?
GO TEAM!
GO TEAM!
Re: Afghanistan
it was an intelligence failure, plain and simple
there were plenty of people in the intelligence community, as well as afghanis on the ground, that overstated the ability of afghan forces to hold back the taliban
blame Biden all you want for listening to the “wrong” people, but you’re spinning this narrative that there was overwhelming evidence that what happened was a forgone conclusion, and that’s just not the case

Re: Afghanistan
Ok. So you think the generals and/or intelligence community sources were lying. Got it.
You're just being a good teammate. I get it.

what part of “requiring intent“ don’t you understand?BasketballJayhawk wrote: ↑Fri Aug 20, 2021 10:44 amOk. So you think the generals and/or intelligence community sources were lying. Got it.

this has nothing to do with whatever “team” you keep blabbering about...i’ve already said that Biden is to blame (as well as others)
it’s ok if you don’t understand English, or comprehend that words actually have definitions...that seems to be a pattern with you
this might blow your mind, but it’s entirely possible that nobody lied...zomg!!
Re: Afghanistan
Huh? I heard the words asked of him by the reporter and the words he used in the response. I can type them out word for word if you'd like to be proven wrong twice.BasketballJayhawk wrote: ↑Fri Aug 20, 2021 10:01 amYou only hear what you want to hear. Listening to the question and the answer is the opposite of mental gymnastics. It's mental gymnastics to do what you did, which appears to be to assume that what he meant was different than what he said because you didn't actually listen to the question he was answering and you think you remember some report that says something else.
