COVID-19 - On the Ground
Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
Sure. But your rant isnt without its flaws. Blame is easy. Actual solutions arent nearly as simple.
Just Ledoux it
Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
Vaccinations and masks are the best and only solutions we currently have to beat this virus.
There is no downside to being vaccinated.

Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
This is probably the most infuriating part. For the vast, vast majority of the eligible unvaccinated, it’s purely out of spite/vanity/brain worms.

They didn't refuse the flu shot, why would they refuse this?TDub wrote: ↑Mon Aug 23, 2021 10:37 pmIf thats true it will get worse after 1/3rd of the health care workers quit at the end of September.
But thats ok, zsn wouldn't let them treat him anyway. Because, as you know, despite years of training and experience....this one decision means you are incapable of providing adequate care; suddenly and immediately unqualified.

Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
That small part about how vaccinated people might spread it just as easily as unvaccinated? Ya everyone overlooks that it seems like.
The people thinking we had a chance to make this "go away" are being unrealistic (especially if they weren't vocally in support of extreme lockdowns with no exceptions). We may eventually get there, but it will take a decade or two, but that's probably a bit optimistic. More likely this circulates around the world forever. We learn to treat it better. Vaccinated people usually don't die and more and more continue to get vaccinated/re vaccinated. Maybe we get lucky and the virus gets weaker over time and this becomes even less deadly (for healthy people) than it already is.
Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
No different than the tide pod challenge. People are stupid. The amount of people taking animal medications is extremely small, like a few hundred or so cases. Makes you wonder why it gets talked about so much? Maybe to make 1 side think the other side is even dumber than they already do? Gotta love the media!
Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
You cannot spread it if you don’t have it. Again, look at the numbers. The vaccine works.BasketballJayhawk wrote: ↑Tue Aug 24, 2021 7:14 amThat small part about how vaccinated people might spread it just as easily as unvaccinated? Ya everyone overlooks that it seems like.

You are not allowed to complain about the economy, gas prices, food shortages, etc, etc if you aren’t attempting to be a part of the solution. The longer it takes people to get vaccinated, the longer the world suffers. Yeah, Covid may be here to stay (like the flu or other viruses) but that doesn’t mean you give up 18 months in because “muh freedoms”. Be a part of the solution, not the problem.
This isn’t difficult. It’s not.

Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
From what I understand, data is still coming in, but so far it seems true that those vaccinated that have a breakthrough infection can carry a viral load similar to the non-vaccinated who are infected. But, breakthrough infections (infected with SARS-COV-2) are still rare for the vaccinated and breakthrough disease (COVID-19) are even rarer for the vaccinated.sdoyel wrote: ↑Tue Aug 24, 2021 8:50 amYou cannot spread it if you don’t have it. So, it is still making a jump to a conclusion that the vaccinated are out there spreading it at the same rate--the data seem to suggest the vaccine is lessening the spread, but not eliminating it (which, I don't think that was ever promised). And, while the entire thing has obviously evolved, it seems the major issue in the US for at least the last 6 months has been the load on the healthcare system and, lately, the rising number of deaths. Both things that the vaccine is extremely effective at helping prevent.
Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
The mistake made in the US was indulging the arguments of the malign and/or idiotic. As with children, sometimes you just ask for frustration and an endless barrage of "why?" questions.
Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
Dems should be careful to remember that it's not just Republicans refusing the vaccine. A large % of the black population is not getting it either and it isn't because of "muh freedums". So i wouldn't be so quick to call everyone refusing it idiotic or malign.
Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
the hate is exclusive to the white folks.
Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
You don't agree?
I haven't seen anyone posting tweets celebrating unvaccinated black people dying. Have you?
Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
"As of this week, 72% of the adult population in the United States have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. While this progress represents a marked achievement in vaccinations that has led to steep declines in COVID-19 cases and deaths, vaccination coverage—and the protections provided by it—remains uneven across the country. With the growing spread of the more transmissible Delta variant, cases, hospitalizations, and deaths are once again rising, largely among unvaccinated people. While White adults account for the largest share (57%) of unvaccinated adults, Black and Hispanic people remain less likely than their White counterparts to have received a vaccine, leaving them at increased risk, particularly as the variant spreads.
The CDC reports demographic characteristics, including race/ethnicity, of people receiving COVID-19 vaccinations at the national level. As of August 16, 2021, CDC reported that race/ethnicity was known for 58% of people who had received at least one dose of the vaccine. Among this group, nearly two thirds were White (58%), 10% were Black, 17% were Hispanic, 6% were Asian, 1% were American Indian or Alaska Native, and <1% were Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander, while 8% reported multiple or other race. However, CDC data also show that recent vaccinations are reaching larger shares of Hispanic, Asian, and Black populations compared to overall vaccinations. Among vaccines administered in the past 14 days, 26% have gone to Hispanic people, 15% to Black people, and 4% to Asian people (Figure 1). These recent patterns suggest a narrowing of racial gaps in vaccinations at the national level, particularly for Hispanic and Black people, who account for a larger share of recent vaccinations compared to their share of the total population (26% vs. 17% and 15% vs. 12%, respectively)."
We are making progress. That is a good thing.
