at this point, it’s nothing more than theater for the SEC’s/Sankey’s eyes

I have to wonder if a lot more was on the table but these small symbolic moves are the only thing they could get all 41 to agree on with each school, especially ND, knowing they have to look out for themselves.TraditionKU wrote: ↑Tue Aug 24, 2021 2:05 pm at this point, it’s nothing more than theater for the SEC’s/Sankey’s eyes

Haha this whole thing is a farce. It's going to make zero impact on realignment because it means absolutely nothing. All they've done is created the "I don't like the SEC Club"
Re: Conference Realignment..?
Oh well, fudge it. Just rename our conference the Remaining 8 (R8). We'll do just fine.

and i know it’s the wishful thinking part of me, but no contract also leaves the door open for conferences to add membership

Yeah I don't think this altered anything on that front, especially now that we see how much of a nothingburger and how flimsy it is. Only thing that is becoming clearer is that the future of big-time college athletics is a Power 4.TraditionKU wrote: ↑Tue Aug 24, 2021 3:20 pmcompletely agreeCrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Tue Aug 24, 2021 2:08 pmI have to wonder if a lot more was on the table but these small symbolic moves are the only thing they could get all 41 to agree on with each school, especially ND, knowing they have to look out for themselves.TraditionKU wrote: ↑Tue Aug 24, 2021 2:05 pm at this point, it’s nothing more than theater for the SEC’s/Sankey’s eyes

And that news was pretty overblown. Reading that, it's a lot of nothing.
Not certain I agree. At least, not until
we see what transpires at the "convention" in Nov.
There's still some strong sentiment w/in admin circles, similar to what's been voiced on this board, that a wholesale, mercenary approach is not good for anyone.
The NCAA may still have relevance in terms of progress toward degree, staff and roster size, number of schollies, etc.
Please, I implore you to be reasonable...

My prior post is also in response to yr view that the NCAA will oversee only smaller schools...

Guess we will see, but I think we can agree on the NCAA looking quite a bit different down the road. I don't think there is any other logical conclusion.ChalkRocker wrote: ↑Tue Aug 24, 2021 5:13 pmCrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Tue Aug 24, 2021 1:56 pm Current ACC, B1G, Pac--it's been in the news for a week or so.

It was something along the lines of Dave misunderstanding what was said or not restating what was said correctly.TraditionKU wrote: ↑Wed Aug 25, 2021 2:05 pmso you think it was bs that he was even present at the event?
