I believe that if KU would have hired Jeff Monken, then Leipold would have won another 10+ games at Buffalo and would have had his pick of any of the Power 5 jobs that will come open this season.

To your other point Newton, I have heard Bean is starting to take more and more reps with the first team. But also heard a rumor that may be because one of the other two is dealing with some kind of injury? Nothing major but something that's held someone out the last couple of practices. Maybe that's the chance Bean needed to show what he can do. I think his athleticism and running ability could mean another win for us this year whether that's taking us from 1 to 2 or 2 to 3. And if that's being overly optimistic then I guess so be it.

I think they beat South Dakota and pick off a win against kstate or Tech without Bean as QB. But with Bean at QB, they might be able to get a win at Duke (They kind of stunk last year, big time) or another conference game at home.

Hey guys, I don't know anything about Bean and his abilities but I do know Coach Leipold (White Gill) likes his hair. So we have that going for us.

Leipold shared his initial impressions of Bean, a junior who is one of three QBs in the running for the team’s starting job.

“I like his hair. He’s got a lot more than me,” a joking Leipold began. “Big, tall kid. Runs well. He’s got a strong arm. He’s coachable right now. He comes in understanding he’s got to compete.”

The Duke game is going to be interesting. A lot of people who cover Duke that are doing their season previews think they are going to be pretty bad this year. If, and it's a big if, KU could win that game, we could see just how much good Leipold and his staff have done already. Oddly enough that's also the 4th game of the year.

Jeebus Gutter. Heaven forbid the guy making a joke before he gave a legit answer. And that was on practice day like #2..? Not a lot to gauge off of for the coaches because they couldn't have them do drills in the summer.

CFB front page! #1!

1. Kansas Nayhawks (2020 record: 0-9)

Last fall, KU didn't win a game. Last winter, it fired the head coach and athletic director amid an embarrassing scandal. Over the summer, the Nayhawks found out their conference is on life support. Other than that, though, good times.

We've been a constant on those rankings for quite some time.
Finally # 1.

Not funny for ESPN to rub salt in wounds they inflicted though. Probably a good time to retire the concept. BB material but it does impact recruiting and is self-fulfilling after a time. ESPN certainly haven't helped the game.

Following up on this, it was Kevin Terry, the WR transfer from Texas Tech.

By all accounts from practice, he had passed Luke Grimm on the depth chart and was probably going to be one of our 4 or 5 receivers who played the most snaps this season.

Yeah. He apparently was best complete WR. Not the fastest, but the best combo of route runner and just go getter of the ball.

Well, shit. That isn't great considering all reports out of camp have been how the WR room hasn't been great.

I think the one thing we have in common with Alabama football is the "next man up" mentality. Over the last decade, really not much difference between our 1st, 2nd, and 3rd teamers on an individual basis.

And here’s a big difference why it may not matter much for this staff compared to previous staffs. Don’t think we’re going to see many 4 WR sets. Mostly 2 and sometimes 3. If the rest of the guys stay healthy, that’s fine. Don’t need 8 guys to be 2 deep, just need about 5-6 good guys that will play.

I think they’ll be fine.

Great point. The need for a large number of wide receivers to play snaps is going to greatly reduced in this offense. I think the main group is going to be Lassiter, McBride, Arnold, Wilson, and Grimm.
