THE Golf Thread
Re: THE Golf Thread
Some articles on golf course environmental impact and how golf courses can work with nature to be more sustainable....the R & A (2nd and 3rd links) are 1 of 2 global golf powers (USGA).

Re: THE Golf Thread
That's gotta be enough. You probably won't even read those. I am heading to the course soon. LOL
Re: THE Golf Thread
good for them...10 courses (out of more than 18,000) in NC, where there is no shortage of waterBasketballJayhawk wrote: ↑Wed Jul 21, 2021 9:15 am https://www.conservationmagazine.org/20 ... servation/
that focuses only in the Open Championship venues...a fraction of the total number of courses globally. those are also the most visible and open to scrutiny, so would be the most likely to do things “right”
that’s a great roadmap, but nothing substantive...and why the limited scope as far as countries targeted?
lol...did you read anything other than the abstract?illy wrote: https://www.jstor.org/stable/40603429
since it’s a pay-for article, i doubt it...if you did actually read it, just tell me a bit about it and i’d be happy to discuss it’s merits further (i’ve actually got access to jstore)
none of your “sources” address the issue that started us down this rabbit hole, which was courses and water use in the desert
keep moving them goalposts
Re: THE Golf Thread
People shouldn't live in the desert period then. But they do.
Re: THE Golf Thread
I know not many golfers here, but Gary has himself in contention in the twin cities. Nice to see him playing well and making some putts.
Re: THE Golf Thread
Gary 1 back going heading into 4th round. Watch a jayhawk golfer tomorrow people!

Congrats!
Hopefully you're not too hungover today and the bar tab didn't reach 4 figures.

Re: THE Golf Thread
Well, it was the sorriest ace you can card. It was a scramble from the ladies' tees, so it was a 90 yard lob wedge (playing 65 downhill).
Re: THE Golf Thread
I hit the ball one time, and it went in. Fight me.
Re: THE Golf Thread
No doubt.
Better than nothing.
My dad is golfs 3 or 4 times a week. Has never had one. Closest he got was he hit and thought it went OB, hit a provisional, it went in (would have been a great par)....his buddy who he was playing against for $$$ found his 1st ball inbounds so couldn't take the provisional and made a quick double bogey.
Take em anyway you can get them. They are rare.
Re: THE Golf Thread
I am not a good golfer. I’m very happy that this was a good shot. I didn’t have to shank it off a tree, for example.BasketballJayhawk wrote: ↑Fri Aug 27, 2021 9:30 amNo doubt.

I have 4 hole in ones. 2 were what i would consider not great strikes of the ball....but no pictures on the scorecard.jfish26 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 27, 2021 10:05 amI am not a good golfer. Re: THE Golf Thread
I teed the ball up on the next hole, driver out. Meaning it’s iffy at best to find it.BasketballJayhawk wrote: ↑Fri Aug 27, 2021 10:10 amI have 4 hole in ones. 2 were what i would consider not great strikes of the ball....but no pictures on the scorecard.jfish26 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 27, 2021 10:05 amI am not a good golfer. I’m glad I gathered myself and realized I should take that particular ball off the tee and save it.
