Re: Kansas Football 2021 Season
Considering all we have heard from camp reports is how in-consistent the WRs have been and that none have really separated themselves as being the 'guy' yeah we will be fine.
Wilson is your speed guy. Grimm is the inside slot guy. Arnold has the biggest upside and Las is the old head.

One week out.
As kickoff approaches, I'm feeling confident in this team to be competitive. Like the OL pieces and really like the RBs.

I'm still going 17-10 and am just fine with that score.

Any guesses what the starting offensive line is going to look like?

Im taking the points and the under. Putting a lot of confidence in a football team that the last time they won a game, Billy Preston was on the basketball team.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Fri Aug 27, 2021 9:19 am buuuuut, this is interesting. South Dakota must be terrible.

Yes on the under. These teams lighting up the scoreboard seems the least likely thing to happen.

Read up a bit on them. They couldn't stop much on defense last year. They don't score a ton either.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Fri Aug 27, 2021 9:19 am buuuuut, this is interesting. South Dakota must be terrible.
Think it's a 27-13 type of game. But I will say that if Bean is the QB, KU could light up the scoreboard a bit. He's got that potential.

Probably so. Ford at RT also a possibility. But heard Chris Hughes is a bit banged up and will take over the RG role when healthy and Grunhard will be a versatile IOL.UnholyLivingDead wrote: ↑Fri Aug 27, 2021 9:25 am Any guesses what the starting offensive line is going to look like?

Daniels is a little banged up. Obviously, go Bean before Kendrick. Lots of handoffs. Not sure if Kotelnicki does zone read option, but that sounds like the ticket if Bean plays.

This might sound mean, but I don't count on Chris Hughes being healthy. I remember both him and Malik Clark limping off the field injured multiple times per game last year.NewtonHawk11 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 27, 2021 10:30 amProbably so. Ford at RT also a possibility. Re: Kansas Football 2021 Season
It's officially game week. I'm not going to paste the whole article, but here are Jesse Newell's bold predictions for the season:
1. Jason Bean will start every game at QB.
2. KU will cut its sacks allowed per game number in half.
3. KU will record their most sacks in a season in more than a decade.
4. KU's defense will again allow more points than any other team in the nation.
5. A true freshman will lead KU in interceptions.
He also says 1-11 with a win over South Dakota then 11 straight losses.

Getting excited for football to be back. Won't sit and watch the game Friday (Wife's birthday) but will follow along online through Twitter and such.

Re: Kansas Football 2021 Season
A definite change in what Jesse said a couple of weeks ago when he said Kendrick was going to be the guy. It seems everyone knows that Bean has taken control..UnholyLivingDead wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 9:46 am It's officially game week. My response to his 5 predictions..
1. No. Think Jalon Daniels has a game where he starts because Bean will be banged up.
2. Yes. They were sooo bad last year. This year will be a much greater run/throw ratio as well.
3. Probably so. Think Parker and Kyron Johnson are going to be really good as 4-3 DEs
4. No. But they'll be bottom third, easily. Not a slight again the defense. Just the offenses like OU, Iowa State, Texas and Okie State are going to be good.
5. Yes. Jacobee Bryant is a stud. Don't be surprised if the FCS transfer, Webb, is right there though.

Re: Kansas Football 2021 Season
I'm hoping the buzz that picked up over the last week is true and Bean is taking control of the QB job. An athlete like him with an improved OL, if KU can get a comfortable 3-score win over South Dakota, I'll feel a lot better.
Re: Kansas Football 2021 Season
If we beat SD by double digits, I think we can sneak another win or two in this year.
If it's to the wire or we loose, see you next season.

Re: Kansas Football 2021 Season
Well I mean, I get it, but also a bit harsh. The team will improve exponentially over the year just because the playbook will be expanding. They probably have 50-60% of the playbook in right now.
That being said, a Kansas team going against an average FCS team should win by double digits.

Re: Kansas Football 2021 Season
That's the main thing I want to see. I want to see this team get better with every game. More reps and more experience should lead to improvement game to game, even if they're not winning. That hasn't happened under the past coaches. I am hopeful that it will with Leipold and company.
