Their Oktoberfest too.
Shit, I almost forgot about Bob's 47. One of the best Oktoberfest you can readily find. Ready for that season.

I woke up for the day at 5:49am to guy/s (and girl/s) on a boat in what is know as the "Playpen" who are still blasting "EDM" music loud enough that I can (and do) hear it 50 floors up with my windows closed.
I probababy shouldn't make assumptions but...... I have a few that are probably spot on.
Anyway/s, I just might officially be declared an old man today because I am this/close to calling to police to complain. FUCK 'EM!

Hey japhy....why is the new trend to run sheeting vertical? Ive always run it horizontal and staggered like brick pattern....more and more i see everyone running it vertical and not staggered...seems odd to me, seems like you would reduce the shear value becuse its spanning less of the vertical members and not offsetting it seems like it would be more prone to give at/weaker at the joints?

Not sure of the circumstances, but if you have a high shear load you can get some higher diaphragm values by using panel joints that provide a 3x stud at the joint and nailing both panels to the same stud. This would be best done if you stack the 3x studs vertically on multi-story buildings. If you offset the 3x studs you would have a discontinuity issue. So vertical joints would be the thing. If the panel joints end at the base in a tiedown at the foundation, it is likely a wind/seismic detail.

I look at this way. I had 3 choices. 1) Call the police. 2) Put on a bathing suit, go downstairs, walk to the beach, get in the water, swim out to the boat, ask the person/people nicely if they would please turn down the music, swim back to shore, and hope he/she/they obliged my request. 3) Suck it up and do nothing other than bitch about it on here.

I don't have to tell you which option I chose.

Incredibly (to me), within 10 minutes of my post the guy/girl/people turned off (or at least down) the music.
Moral of the story is.... I am an asshole because I'm the one who chooses to live where I do and then I bitch instead of realizing I should just deal with what is "normal" bullshit.

Maybe not the best flight to start practicing your Arabic.

I wonder if there usually a dip in travel that date.
