If your point is that Texas will win the same amount or close to the same amount they are now in the SEC, we aren't arguing against that.

The argument is, since the SEC is more difficult, if Texas were to have a decade of loosing, that could end up biting them in the ass, despite the allure of the SEC. That is the risk.

The risk was presented.
And now you're scrambling around saying we're emotional because Texas left.

"Fighting for 2nd or 3rd place in the Big 12 every year just looks and feels different than fighting Mizzou and Mississippi State for 7th place.

If Texas shows up and averages 5 win seasons in the SEC, they'll take a hit."

If you agree that football success is a large factor in following ( i.e. Kansas's SUDDEN jump in excitement and attendance of which you, yourself, posted, in this thread ) then you could see the reason if Texas was sub .500 in the SEC, not making bowl games year in/year out, it could backfire on their brand and their fanbase.
Success is a LARGE factor in the following of KU football.

Success doesn't appear to be as large of a factor in the following of Texas football. As evidenced by their recent record and still being top revenue earner and top 10 in attendance.

Texas finished 19th in the country last year.
25th the year before.
That is success.

Something KU alums apparently don't do is attend football games unless their team is winning. Amirite?

So they'll be fine in the SEC then, right?

How was their attendance in 2014 thru 2016 when they had 3 losing seasons in a row? I will give you a hint: it was still good.

#fact

Definitely should have gone to KU. If not for the experience, at least for the messageboard clout.

It's tough to listen to a guy who didn't go to KU try to talk about the Big 12 and the SEC.
All I hear is how upset he is that he couldn't cut it and now just lashes out at KU alum, whatever opinion they may have.
Really diminishes his opinion on everything really.

2 football iirc.

Dozens of basketball.

Compared to a grand total of zero football and 1 basketball game at the actual college i attended. 🤣

I am as dedicated of a TShirt fan as they come. Even have a Williams Educational Fund sticker on my car.

The correct thing to say is, "oh, yea, it could be a risk, but I don't think much of one, because I think Texas will maintain at least a reasonable level of competitive football -- i don't think they'll hover around .400 ball."

This still acknowledges the risk that you asked about but presents your stance on what you expect the successes of Texas will be.
