the length some will go to in order to downplay those events is shocking

it doesn't matter that they didn’t succeed...it doesn’t matter if “you” think there was no way they could ever succeed

the fact is that they attempted and were trying to succeed

if you smuggle a file (or whatever) into a prison for someone to escape, but get caught in the process, it doesn’t matter that you and the inmate didn’t succeed

I am not downplaying anything.

I posted a few articles. The intelligence doesn't seem to really support that it was a coordinated effort to "overthrow the government".

It qualifies as numerous other things that will land many of them in jail for a long time. But not an attempt at actually overthrowing the government.

The only thing they didn't succeed at was killing politicians. They successfully broke into the Capitol. Successfully vandalized and terrorized the politicians. I think in many of their eyes they succeeded at what they went there to do.

When BLM rioters stormed a police station did you guys think they were making an attempt at overthrowing the police and assuming that power? I certainly didn't. I thought they were vandalizing and terrorizing. Rioting. Etc.

It wasn't an attempted overthrow of the government.

They absolutely did attempt to distrupt the governement process and the charges for some will reflect that.

What is really going on is a failed attempt by the GOP to keep their grasp on power.

Just like the failed election. The failed insurrection. The failed attempt to suppress votes. The failed attempt to re-district.

It wasn't successful because that's not how it works. Those who control that building do not control our country/government/military. Those things are required to "overthrow the government".
