Back in 2013 if you told a KU fan Wiggs would be a “really good 3rd best player” they would have been so pissed. They might even say something like, how much more exited they were to land him rather than Julius Randle.

Even the suggestion of Embiid and Wiggs teaming back up should have all of us hard. That would be such a cool billing…

…except still way too prone to that 3rd best bullshit. Even if it happened, the narrative is still so likely “who wants to be that complimentary piece next to Embiid who can help take the Sixers on a deep run?”

ugh ugh ugh

And just to entertain that hypo, how would Randle have fit here? Ideally PF but we already had Perry. Would he have played the 3? Or the 5, especially once Embiid went down and Tarik collected two fouls by the time you finish reading this sentence.

Wiggins was better than Randle in college.

Wiggins was also better than Randle in the NBA until the last 24months.

There is no reason Wiggins can't be every bit as successful with golden state as Harrison Barnes was. Barnes was on that 73-9 team. Barnes was a bit more consistent of a spot up shooter tho

Embiid doesn't need Wiggins tho. And golden state doesn't need ben Simmons. That just isn't that beneficial of a trade for either side. Philly desperately needs a playmaker. A point guard/combo guard, not another wing

Portland needs some defense and athleticism tho. And has shooting. I dont see Philly working out a deal for Lillard like they wanted. But cj McCollum could really help Philly. Is he the best player the could realistically get at this point? Every time Simmons name is mentioned his trade value continues to drop

2 years ago you would be crazy to suggest a Simmons for McCollum trade. Today im not sure if Simmons will even get you McCollum. But a trade package built around those 2 might be your best bet

I've heard Bradley beal and damian Lillard thrown around in Simmons trade ideas. I just can't see it. Unless those teams are scared those guys will leave in free agency and think its better to get something out of them in a trade instead of letting them walk away for nothing

And I dont see John wall really helping Philly either. He's a more natural point guard than Simmons but also not a very good shooter.
Simmons is bigger younger a better defender rebounder and at this point a lot better athlete. John wall is still on a massive contract and not worth it in any way shape or form. Injuries and aging have killed his value

Interesting he called out philly front office by saying letting Jimmy go was a mistake...which i 100% agree with. Jimmy Butler was perfect with Embiid.

TTP!
Actually, fuck the process. The process has been processed.
No doubt Joel wants to be the face of the franchise but at what point does he realize the franchise he is the face of isn't an Elite team? At what point is a ring more important to him than being "the man"?

Should he demand a trade?

Not for me to decide but I would say no.
When his contract expires and if the Sixers aren't one of the better (top 4 or 5) teams in the East, then by all means I feel he shouldn't be married to Philly and should probably look to play elsewhere.

With Embiids injury history it would be fiscally irresponsible of him to ever play out a contract down to the last year willingly.

Embiid is likely a 76er for life. Or close to it. As he should be. He can win there.

He can win what there? Games? Of course he can.
A championship? I'm not so sure. He's 0-7 and counting - so far.

It took Jordan a while to win with the Bulls too.

This idea that after 5 or 7 years in the league if you don't have a ring that the problem is solely the franchise you're with and you should force your way out or leave (1 way or another) is something I don't agree with in this situation. Embiid can potentially win in Philly. Giannis just won in Milwaukee. I don't think Embiid needs to go join 1 of the very few players who are better than him so that he can win a ring. He can absolutely be the best player on a championship team.

Embiid plus a complementary player who can actually play in the 4th quarter is a whole different ball game

They (Embiid and Simmons) almost beat the Raptors a few years ago the year they won it all.

You're putting WAY too much emphasis on 1 bad playoff run by Simmons. In reality, Simmons and Embiid have won a lot of games together and are among the best duos in the league.

Indeed it took Jordan a while. He didn't preach TTP but thankfully Crumbs Krause gave him what he needed to win a championship. I'm not saying the 6ers haven't given Embiid what he needs but how many GMs (and whatever other management titles/roles people have had) has Embiid had and why has he had more than 1?

If you don't see a "problem" with the 76ers franchise right now then you and I see differently.
I'm old school and I don't like players chasing rings but I can't really blame a guy if winning a ring is more important to him than $. Loyalty is a different subject. That's been my beef with LeBron.

Of course Embiid can "potentially" "win" (I assume you mean a ring) in Philly but he's not winning one this season with their current roster unless the better teams have major injuries.

I don't know if Embiid has to join a player who's better than him but he sure needs at least a Jimmy Butler - and we know how that worked out.
I agree he can be the best player on a championship team but I don't think he's winning one in Philly unless the 76ers give him more than what he currently has.

The praise for the Sixers and Celtics outsmarting the rest of the league has sure died down.

It was bad enough that Simmons looks useless to win big playoff games, and now you add on that he's on a trend to becoming a locker room cancer.

If he were a superstar, teams would be lining up for them. They're not. He's facing an unfulfilling good-regular-season-stat-player-on-bad-teams career.
