Re: Chiefs 2021
That isn't new information. That is a 9 second clip. Give me a clip of a chunk of about 5 minutes after the play and I'll feel more comfortable. I sort of recall seeing some shot of the Chargers receiver initiating the contact with the Chiefs defender and then breaking off his route and the Chiefs defender grabbing a fistful of the front of his jersey. If I had DVR'd the game like I normally do, I would go back and look at it but as I said, I did not. I looked for a YouTube full replay of the game but didn't find one. It is irrelevant now.
Looking forward to the Eagles game next week. I hope Sanders and Hurts don't run all over the Chiefs, Mahomes looks at all of his receivers and the Chiefs skill players remember how to secure a ball. KC definitely needs Mathieu and Jones to have some sort of impact on the game. I barely remember hearing either's name last week.

Re: Chiefs 2021
If the Chiefs don't beat the Eagles by at least two scores this team will have issues that are much more real than anyone of us want to admit. I would expect a score similar to the one last night.
Defense, really as a whole looked better against the Chargers than I thought. Herbert is good and a WR corp of Williams and Allen you can't expect to shut out. If they can just get there pre-snap alignment right that alone would have eliminated at least one score. I wonder if Spags needs to simplify his scheme and get back to the basics more. He is known for his complex disguises, which work but also how many times not only this year but in previous years have we seen an opposing player running wide open or for TDs with no Chiefs defender within 10 yards.
The key, for me is the Chiefs have to win on early downs. They can't keep putting themselves in 2nd and 4 or 3rd and 3 because moving forward they have to start thinking that once a team gets in Chiefs territory it is four down territory so they are going to be defending an extra play.

One item of note is that the Eagles offensive line is in shambles. They just lost their starting LG for the season last night and have several other injuries they are dealing with.holidaysmore wrote: ↑Tue Sep 28, 2021 11:12 am If the Chiefs don't beat the Eagles by at least two scores this team will have issues that are much more real than anyone of us want to admit. I think you have to sweep the NFC East if you want to get back on track.
Next 5 include 3 of those:
@ Eagles, v Bills, @ Washington, @ Titans, v Giants.
4-1 would get you to 5-3 going into a big home game v the Packers.

Re: Chiefs 2021
Agreed. Hopefully we can split the vs. Bills/@Titans games. The Bills game is a Sunday Night prime time home game so hopefully KC can get that W. The Titans have been erratic as well so who knows what that will look like by then. Fingers crossed that KC can clean up some of their issues and get a few of their injured defenders healthy.
Re: Chiefs 2021
They'd better have shored up the run defense ( we are 2nd worst in the league ) somewhat by that Titans game.
Henry will eat us alive.

Re: Chiefs 2021
LOL! Thanks for helping to make my point. While you are justifiably bitching, I am going to justifiably point out that when the Chiefs have won a game, there were probably "two very important/pivotal plays in the game" that went in the Chiefs favor and YOU didn't mention that. Or has that never happened? You tell me.pdub wrote: ↑Tue Sep 28, 2021 8:49 am These were two very important/pivotal plays in the game.
Both look like they'd have given the Chiefs a significant chance to win.
Pivotal calls don't matter much when your rookie quarterback that you traded up for gets sacked nine times and can't score versus a middling defense.
I'm laughing because I just went and looked at some highlights from the Chiefs / Browns game and I see some blatant holding by the Chiefs Offensive Linemen on TD plays that wasn't called. That's clearly why the Browns lost. Right? Again, you tell me.
Re: Chiefs 2021
The no call ( pass interference ) on the hail mary pass was brought up by independent sports coverage -- not linked to the Chiefs -- NBC's pro football talk.
Find me a link from a reputable source to the Chiefs blatant holding of the Browns on those TD calls and I will concede your point.

Re: Chiefs 2021
Until proven other wise that isn't a big deal to me simply because we heard the same narrative coming into the Ravens game and the Chiefs did nothing to make that an advantage. I'm not worried about the offense. I'm not even worried about the red zone. What I am worried about is this front four cannot generate consistent push and pressure. Now stats show they did do better against the Chargers and they were without Clark but if this front continues to get manhandled like they have Patrick and the offense will have to play nearly perfect to overcome that big of a deficiency on the opposite side.twocoach wrote: ↑Tue Sep 28, 2021 11:56 amOne item of note is that the Eagles offensive line is in shambles. Re: Chiefs 2021
One man's "blatant" is another man's "no call".
You (and most Chiefs fans) probably won't see it the way I do/did but I see Thuney holding on the first TD, Niang "blatantly" holding on the second one, and Niang "blatantly" holding on the 3rd one.
Yes, holding could and should probably be called on many if not most plays in NFL games but if I were to nitpick I could say the Chiefs benefitted from the non-calls.
Regardless, I feel YOU are 100% right to bitch about the bullshit calls that did have an impact on the outcome of the game on Sunday but as I also basically said, I am yet to hear/read fans bitch about calls (and no calls) that go in their team's favor.
Right or wrong, I choose to assume the Chiefs have benefitted from close to as many bad calls (and non calls) as they have suffered from over the history of the franchise.

Re: Chiefs 2021
I dont hear anyone on the broadcast talking about it ( Romo laughing about how our guys got tackled ) nor see an article about it after the fact ( NBC proff ). Just a regular old highlight collection.
Re: Chiefs 2021
We both know I'm slow so please bear with me.
Are you saying you can't see with your own eyes and then come to your own conclusion/s if something is or isn't a penalty and you need someone on a broadcast or in an article to tell you if something is or isn't a penalty - for you to decide if it is or not?
Anyways, moving on, good to see/read that Reid is ok and back with the team.
Re: Chiefs 2021
I checked your footage.
No, your 2nd and 3rd holds on Niang weren't blatant.
Not nearly as blatant as the pass interference on Tyreek.
And that blatancy, along with the fact that it was a pivotal play at the end of the game and not one of many ( as illogical as that may be in the grand scheme of things ), were why announcers were talking about it during the game and NBC was writing about it after.

So ready for the Chiefs to win by 20 Sunday. And then all day Monday, Philly Sports Radio will again talk about they want Reid back in Philly.

Re: Chiefs 2021
I'd be happy with any win at all where we don't turn the ball over more than twice, score 21+ and escape healthy.
Re: Chiefs 2021
The wounds have been so self-inflicted it has been like watching KU twice a weekend. CEH is not an every down guy. Fix where he gets the ball. Kemp looks like a special teams guy. Put Gordon where he can be the third option stretch guy. But for God's sake, understand that other teams are trying to win games of attrition.
Re: Chiefs 2021
This is not surprising for a team that's been to back to back superbowls and who will likely go to another this year. Small mental mistakes early in the season costing games. They'll be fine when the stakes are the highest. They're getting every teams best shot right now. Most important to get thru the regular season mostly healthy. A few meaningful losses in September won't mean much in a few months.
