COVID-19 - On the Ground

Also looking for a gif of that Simpsons episode when Doctor Nick performs surgery with a fork and knife.
But don’t worry, he wiped them down with a napkin first!

you’d think so, but bad cops seem to get rehired pretty easily...often right down the road from where they fucked up previouslyousdahl wrote: ↑Tue Sep 28, 2021 4:28 pm Well, even without revoking licensure, on a de facto level how likely are they to get another healthcare job once the cat’s out the bag about why they left their previous position?
I guess it’s a matter of finding a healthcare job that doesn’t require vaccinations?
or just start a new life chapter serving pina coladas to mich.
Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
Bad cops? dunno if that’s the best analogy.
Haven’t you been listening to Randy?
Turns out the state-sponsored brutalizing of minorities has nothing to do with the Holocaust, bro.

The new SNL sketch just writes itself! They just have one cloth, like an oil rag at the garage to wipe dipsticks, and they just wipe tongue depressors, syringe needles, otoscope tips, thermometers….everything! Same cloth!!!PhDhawk wrote: ↑Tue Sep 28, 2021 4:30 pmRight. Don't you think it's wasteful that every time your doctor uses a tongue depressor to look at the back of your throat, they throw it away? At Mich's hospital they just wipe it off on the leg of their pants and its good to be used again. Save money on your visits because they don't waste money on disposable otoscope tips.zsn wrote: ↑Tue Sep 28, 2021 4:22 pmSome of us are old enough to remember the SNL Steroid Olympics sketch. Briefly, it imagined an even where everyone was doped up. Maybe they can put a no-vax hospital in Mich’s backyard. All the staff wouldn’t be vaccinated for anything. I can just imagine the specials they can run- “get treated for a twisted ankle and get pertussis for free”. They can open branches in Florida and Texas.
FREEDUMB!!!!!

REAL healthcare workers trust the fucking science.randylahey wrote: ↑Tue Sep 28, 2021 4:19 pmOr should they just round them up and put them in concentration camps? Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
the "need" for the vaccine is highly debatable. everyone knows covid poses little threat to most people. so yes, people losing their jobs over the hesitancy to get a medical treatment with many question marks is losing touch with reality.
especially during a time when their is supposedly shortages in the medical field. makes zero sense to fire a bunch of young healthy people for not getting medical treatments that they don't need.
but then again its not about logic, its about control. submit to totalitarianism or else

the way some of our country fears covid and worships these rules/regulations is like some kind of weird cult. lost touch with reality. covid isnt that serious at this point. most people dont give a shit about covid anymore. move on with your lives

Yeah it’s not about logic.
But rather than control or submitting to totalarianism, what if it was about petty political victories?

My wife still has a lot of covid patients who feel the same way as karen.
Defense. Rebounds.
Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
I’d venture to guess that a lot more people died of Covid this month than of measles this entire year. Maybe even the past week. So, no more measles vaccination?

Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
Vaccines are the best and safest way to prevent viral infection. Nurses who don't recognize that aren't qualified to be nurses, it's that simple. People who can't add aren't qualified to be accountants; people who are illiterate can't write books for a living.
And to Trad's point. These are the people who take care of the sick and the elderly. Why would they not take every precaution possible to reduce their risk of being a vehicle for transmission of the disease? It's ridiculous. Hand washing doesn't eliminate infection, but it significantly reduces it's likelihood...vaccines are no different, and they're just as safe...they're actually easier and less of a hassle than handwashing, you get two shots, you have to wash your hands multiple times per day. Hell, vaccines have fewer allergies than there are to wearing latex or even nitrile gloves.

Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
I honestly don't think Karen understands how it's spread. He keeps on with his "most people are fine" line of bullshit. Not acknowledging that someone who works with those much more likely to "not be fine" are a potential route of transmission.
This is far from an overreaction. Even idiots like karen have to recognize that the sick and elderly are very much at risk from Covid19, and that's the people nurses are interacting with constantly during their work.

Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
People with vaccine hesitancy are the one's losing touch with reality.
There's no logic in having nurses be more vulnerable to infection and therefore more likely to spread it to the very people they're supposed to be helping.

As usual, I am confused. First off, addressing one of your earlier posts from today - how can and does a city fire healthcare workers unless they are city employees?randylahey wrote: ↑Tue Sep 28, 2021 6:37 pm the "need" for the vaccine is highly debatable. everyone knows covid poses little threat to most people. so yes, people losing their jobs over the hesitancy to get a medical treatment with many question marks is losing touch with reality.

I respect your opinion/s and hopefully you'll respect mine.
I actually agree with some of your points - and disagree with others.
You say, "everyone knows covid poses little threat to most people".
I say, debatable. "Most" meaning 99%, 95%? 75%? 67.5%? 50.01%?
There are roughly 330 million people living in this country. Roughly 50+ million are over the age of 65. Roughly 30 million people of all ages have diagnosed heart disease. There are roughly 35 million who have diagnosed lung disease. There have been roughly 700,000 Americans who Covid allegedly played a role in their demise. 3 I knew personally and several more who were loved ones of those I know.
Sooooo.... While you feel Covid may pose "little threat to most people", I feel it has posed and continues to pose a threat (little, medium, and big) to ALL Americans - but as I just pointed out, MANY millions of Americans are at what is considered to be a "high" or at least "higher" risk of complications. Fuck 'em because they don't fall in the "most people" category?
I am extremely on the fence in regards to your saying people "losing their jobs over the hesitancy to get a medical treatment with many question marks is losing touch with reality".
I have a difficult time believing that we can't figure out a way to still employ unvaccinated healthcare workers and have them help treat both Covid and non-Covid patients in some manner. I don't think they should be fired.
I also feel if healthcare workers are putting other people's health at risk because they are unvaccinated, then they in no way should be able to treat patients.
You said, "fire a bunch of young healthy people for not getting medical treatments that they don't need".
I say,
A) Not all healthcare workers are young. Not all are "healthy" either.
B) Unvaccinated (before the vaccine was being produced/manufactured and after the vaccine was produced/manufactured) Healthcare workers have contracted Covid and died. I don't know if they "needed" to be vaccinated per se but we will never know if had they been vaccinated, if they would still be alive today.
C) I still feel NO ONE should be forced against their will to get vaccinated but I also feel people not getting vaccinated affects EVERYONE in a mostly negative manner.
D) I joked about 20 months ago how someone felt the need to fuck a bat in China. 20 months later I'm not laughing at all. I am astounded how piss poorly this country was prepared for a pandemic and the repercussions because of it. SHAME ON US!
