I will miss OU and Texas.
We had some great matchups vs both of them in BB.
Comeback v OU in 06 showing some early tenacity of our young squad. Collins and Taylor going into Norman and splashing over Willie Warren. Double OT with Mason, Vonte and Hield.
Big 12 tourney final with Julian Wright's dunk and then a couple seasons later Chalmers going off. Durant in AFH.

You'll always have your fond memories, though, no? In the end, isn't that the best any of can really keep?
Please, I implore you to be reasonable...
Re: Conference Realignment..?
i should have qualified my statement more
i won’t miss having such a high maintenance institution. KU and the conference were definitely better b-ball wise when ut was good, and some of my most vivid memories over past 30 years include ut or ou (notably the game after TRob’s loss)
but their demands and prima dona behavior as an institution can fuck right off

Don't know if this belongs here but again the source is not liked by some but Vernon said that KU is raising funds as a university in the ballpark of $2B. The football stadium will go under that umbrella. Seems like it will be a multi-year complete renovation.
I'm putting this here because the B1G has probably said, start a plan to fix your stadium and then we'll talk more seriously.

Also, an interesting take on how the league may or may not treat the departing programs:
https://www.espn.com/college-football/s ... s-oklahoma
"But on Saturday, the Big 12's departing heavyweights will play their first conference road games since opting for the greener pastures of the SEC, which means the Sooners and Longhorns can expect even more hostility than usual."

I hope the referees got the memo.ChalkRocker wrote: ↑Wed Sep 29, 2021 11:25 am Also, an interesting take on how the league may or may not treat the departing programs:

The beauty of referees betting on games is that they don't have to take dirty money from power school sponsors. Think of all the money they could make on a KU upset. Man.

If you are suggesting that we pay the refs off to ensure that KU upsets UT and OU, then please tell me where to send my donation.
Re: Conference Realignment..?
First, da refs take their "seed" money to Gutter as their bookie. Secretly. Last minute. Waiting for the biggest betting line. Then they throw in for a huge upset. Then comes the easy part. They call back eight TDs.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Wed Sep 29, 2021 2:10 pm If you are suggesting that we pay the refs off to ensure that KU upsets UT and OU, then please tell me where to send my donation.
Sadly, it is simpler to make sure one team stays ahead of or behind the betting line.

Even though the issue is long decided, I am going to call OPI.

Re: Conference Realignment..?
All eyes are on the Big Ten meeting going on right now and they are keeping tabs on the SEC. Rumor is the SEC wants to align into 4 pods of 4 teams each when OU and Texas join. Their 9th conference game would then essentially be the semi-final to the SEC championship game with the 4 first-place teams in each pod playing each other in some fashion to determine who goes to the title game. The revenue from a de facto SEC playoff would be so big, it sounds like the Big Ten would be looking to expand to 16 sooner than they originally planned to. This is for two reasons: 1. they want in on that money and 2. they hate the way their divisions are currently aligned. If the Big Ten expands soon, apparently schools in "The Alliance" are off the table.
Re: Conference Realignment..?
if the big 10 is smart, their top target will be cincy.
