COVID-19 - On the Ground
Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
Also just saw a headline that YouTube is cracking down on anti-vax content
As if lobster wasn’t already banned enough.

If they are pushing an antivax narrative i strongly disagree with that. If they are pushing a pro choice make your own medical decisions I strongly agree with it

Both encourage people to do so, if its their choice. But both are against this totalitarian mandates of forcing people into medical treatments. Right or wrong, I feel the main objective of their push was to be assholes. Medical privacy or not.
Why would and should anyone be ashamed/embarrassed to admit they were vaccinated?
As far as Hannity and Carlson, two questions. 1) What Republican political office do they hold? 2) When did Carlson say he was vaccinated?
Tucker carlson terrifies democrats. He is a free thinker and challenges other people to do the same. Sometimes he goes overboard and I dont necessarily agree with everything he says. But he believes in the constitution, freedoms, and understands why we need to protect them. This country desperately needs more voices like that. People here take for granted how good they have things. It wasn't easy to establish a country like this

Could be a good thing. Theres a lot of stupid shit on YouTube
Could be a bad thing. Big tech companies are already facing a lot of backlash for the way they censor peoples right to free speech. They hire "fact checkers" who are really activists trying to remove content or idea that contradict theirs

Free thinking people in general terrify the democratic platform. The last thing they want is a nation of free thinkers. where is that line drawn?randylahey wrote: ↑Wed Sep 29, 2021 1:07 pm If they are pushing an antivax narrative i strongly disagree with that. If they are pushing a pro choice make your own medical decisions I strongly agree with it
Between being “make my own decisions” and just being anti-vax.
Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
And for real how often is “make my own decisions” invoked for other medical anything?
“Sir, you have cancer, but the good news is the tumor can be easily removed.” Agree to disagree!

He isn't a free thinker. He barely qualifies as a thinker at all. At best, his thought process is "what sounds edgy that my audience who isn't paying that close of attention will think sounds smart?" He routinely contradicts himself and talks in circles.randylahey wrote: ↑Wed Sep 29, 2021 1:26 pmFree thinking people in general terrify the democratic platform. If you took a written transcript of most of his things, you'd read it and think that he's had a stroke.

Correct. Both of my dead aunts chose that approach.TDub wrote: ↑Wed Sep 29, 2021 1:50 pmousdahl wrote: ↑Wed Sep 29, 2021 1:31 pm And for real how often is “make my own decisions” invoked for other medical anything?

Of course a big difference between that and not getting vaccinated is that Cancer isn't contagious. You're not putting other people at unnecessary risk by not receiving cancer treatment.twocoach wrote: ↑Wed Sep 29, 2021 1:58 pmCorrect. Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
Agreed. This notion that everything should be handled the same way is just adults trying to justify toddler behavior.
Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
The reason we’re here is because Society is too polite to take the latter option. In several cases “here is the prudent and science-based option. Or you can be an idiot and not take that option” is exactly the way to describe the situation (eg. vaccination, flat-earth).TDub wrote: ↑Wed Sep 29, 2021 1:51 pmits a pretty easy distinction.ousdahl wrote: ↑Wed Sep 29, 2021 1:31 pmwhere is that line drawn?randylahey wrote: ↑Wed Sep 29, 2021 1:07 pm If they are pushing an antivax narrative i strongly disagree with that. Glad we are beginning to treat antivaxxers with the (lack of) respect they deserve. Give them their Darwin Award and make them go away.
Since someone brought it up, I don’t know who is more dangerous to society: antivaxxers or homeopathists
Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
Yea, it may be as simple as that.
Sigh.
My Qusdahl neck tat tho wonders if there’s some bigger game being played here.
Like Randy said, why have free thinkers when you can have so many voters consumed by misinformation instead.
And I’m sure plenty of Fox News viewers consider themselves free thinkers, so maybe the question becomes what constitutes a “free thinker?”
At the very least, it’s someone who develops a world view based upon more than just a for-profit news rag.
Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
No. we got here because we are a country built on freedom and choice. Exactly how it should stay.zsn wrote: ↑Wed Sep 29, 2021 2:17 pmThe reason we’re here is because Society is too polite to take the latter option.
