But maybe some data set out there will have it.
Or gutter can step up to the plate.
It won't take much tracking because it won't even be close. It wasn't even close last year (Mitch probably played almost 2x the minutes as Jalen at the 5) and we had a far less talented front court. We've got multple guys this year better than Jethro (who was technically our 3rd "big" last year).

If Mitch is a viable backup, then why did Jalen spend any minutes at the 5 at all?
Because we were getting roasted in many of those games? We struggled to score. Hell we struggled to even move the ball. Those things won't be issues this year.

Last year we only had 2 bigs (David and Mitch)...this year we have 4 or 5 better than our 3rd best option last year.

Too blanket-y. Jalen can play some 5 and we can win the national title.

Baylor just won one playing a small lineup. And we kicked their ass!

It wasn't close last year ( Mitch played much more 5 than Jalen ), that is correct.
I hope hasbeen isn't arguing it was.

If you were making the case for Mitch then it would make more sense. But you're floating Cam and talking about the attributes and abilities we need from him, which are opposite of his established skillset.

Do you wake up each morning, choose a dumb argument, and just commit all day to (poorly) making the case?

According to KU:

Jalen 6'8" 225 lbs
Mitch 6'8" 225 lbs
Cam 6'9" 230 lbs

I think counting any of them out on minutes at the 5 is premature.

Both Thamba and Tchamwa are bigger players ( and different players ) than Jalen.
Neither of those dudes shot a 3 pointer all season.

Nope, just making the case that he played some at the 5 last year and we're even better 1-4 this year so it makes sense to maximize that depth by playing Jalen at the 5. Easier to match up on shooters and easier to switch everything in late game and clock situations, assuming Dave is out.

That's my entire case. You and Illy's case is that Mitch and Cam need to see the floor lol lmao

I find Wilson listed at 215 fwiw. Mitch and Cam both look significantly bigger than 5lbs and 10lbs heavier than Jalen.

Not need to see the floor but probably have to by default.
We'll see.
I think Self plays super senior Mitch and everyone gets mad.

I have no idea what that is worth but KU's official site has Wilson at 225 and his 10 lb. muscle gain over the summer has been well documented by media in the last month.

Last thing I'll say about this (until one of you says something stupid and pisses me off):

In a very specific scenario U10 in the second half, Dave on the bench fouled out or in foul trouble, the first lineup is far superior to the second lineup:

Remy
Yes
Braun
OA
Jalen

Remy
Braun
OA
Jalen
Mitch/Cam

Couple that with the fact that we will play from behind at times (less than last year), which will force Bill to go small. Also, I'm not nearly as high on Dave as some of you, so I suspect he'll be pulled throughout the season for poor play. Self is unafraid of doing it. If that happens, I would imagine Mitch is the first replacement...but if Mitch does Mitch things, I can see Jalen picking up a few first half minutes as the biggest player on the court.

It depends against the team we are playing.
I think that first team is vulnerable to a physical interior scorer ( even if they aren't the 1st or 2nd best players on the team - just a big scorer ) and would result in Jalen picking up fouls and/or getting abused underneath.

Not sure why Dillon Wilhite isn't getting more love.

6'9" 240 lbs. 18 pts 12 rebs last year.

Compare to Jalen:

5'5" 118 lbs. (Illy's eye measurements) 12 pts 8 rebs last year.

I would agree with you if Mitch wasn't also going to be abused by a big scorer. He has been throughout his career and will be this year.

I think Mitch is a better interior defender than Jalen.
I also think it's alright if he picks up fouls -- i'd prefer Jalen on the court when we need him ( and when DMac is playing ).
And don't discount his 6 years playing for Bill Self.
