This is such an ignorant double standard. We know for a fact that vaccinated people can still spread covid. The odds of giving someone covid and them dying are really low. With vaccines, slightly lower.sdoyel wrote: ↑Fri Oct 01, 2021 1:38 pm Here’s why I am not okay with being tested on a regular basis:
Because I have done my civic duty as an American and gotten vaccinated.
My risk to society as a vaccinated person is extremely low in comparison to someone who isn’t vaccinated.
In general, I am okay with being around others who are vaccinated because not only is the risk lessened further, I trust they probably take similar precautions as me.
Am I comfortable hanging out with someone who isn’t vaccinated? No. No I am not. Because this person is 5x as likely to have Covid… The unvaxed “my freedom” folks also don’t take the precautions as vaccinated people like myself do. So in short, stay the fuck away from me.
Why is this so hard for you to understand Illy? JFC man.
But if I tell you there is a 99 percent chance something isn't going to happen, or i tell you there is a 99.9 percent chance it isn't going to happen, there really isn't much difference.

We're nearing a million deaths in the US right now from Covid19. If a vaccine had been around the entire time that number would be in the tens of thousands. And that's without accounting for the reduction in the number of infections.
If you think 40,000 is the the same as 1,000,000 I can't even reason with you.

I have this theory that a big reason why so many people can't comprehend the vast difference between a millionaire and a billionaire is how closely they are in spelling.PhDhawk wrote: ↑Fri Oct 01, 2021 2:20 pmA. Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
It's not an OK/Not OK decision. Calling that is solely to try to win an argument with a simpleton response. Choosing to leave your house to interact in society is a decision based on how much risk are you willing to accept. I personally would like to reduce the amount of risk of exposure as much as possible, knowing that the only way to reduce it to zero (no one in the house ever leaves the house) has it's own negative consequences. But you've been told this same thing a thousand times already.

Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
The odds of infecting someone with covid and them dying have always been ridiculously low and we have always known that. The average American doesn't give a single shit about covid 2 years in, if they ever did. Making different rules for different people is only about being divisive and getting people to conform to your line of thinking. For businesses its to cover their ass. Save them money and deflect liability. Its not about protecting anyone. We don't need protected

My theory is that once you reach a person's maximum comprehension level, everything beyond that becomes the same size. It's like the "if you can smell a fart through your mask then your mask is useless against saliva droplets containing covid" argument. Some people just cannot wrap their brain around the difference in various particle sizes.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Fri Oct 01, 2021 2:30 pmI have this theory that a big reason why so many people can't comprehend the vast difference between a millionaire and a billionaire is how closely they are in spelling.PhDhawk wrote: ↑Fri Oct 01, 2021 2:20 pmA. Same with money. When you can't comprehend having a million dollars, having a billion dollars isn't any different.

1-2% is a big number when you're talking about 45 million, or 350 million or 7 billion.
I can't believe that this needs to be said.
I have a feeling some of the people who post here are the same ones I end up waiting in line behind while they pick out an assortment of scratch tickets.

I am well aware 1 pecent comes out to be a big number, but its still a tiny percentage.. its been over said. I think the world is over populated, which is causing a mass extinction of all life on the planet, not just human life. And I really don't give a shit if 1 percent, 2 percent, or .1 percent of people die. Most of us won't. The virus isn't very deadly if it has a 99 percent survival rate. 99 percent is a much much bigger number, 1 percent won't be noticed in the long run. And I dont give a shit that 1 percent of our population is a big number. Its because our population is too damn big for our way of life on this planet. We have a lot bigger issues than covid move on with your life
Is this statement insensitive? Yes.
Will it cause liberal tears? Yes a ton.

My employer would have to fire a huge amount of employees to afford regular testing. I'll settle for utilizing the options (not requiring us to come in at all if we don't want, work issued laptops for easier WAH, licensing of Zoom, Microsoft Teams and other tools to better collaborate remotely, redesigned workspaces in the office to spread us out) and enjoy still having a job.BasketballJayhawk wrote: ↑Fri Oct 01, 2021 2:28 pmYou 100% can't be infected with the virus from a person who doesn't have the virus.
