I just spent the morning clearing, plowing and dragging the back pasture in preparation for getting winter seed down. Had my boy on the tractor with me, no one else around. fresh air, productive, easy going and relaxing. I didnt have a single thought about covid or politics or government or crime or anything other than what was in front of me and what areas I needed to level out etc. Had deer run across in front of us, coyotes on the hill and the dogs running behind the tractor chasing field mice. It was wonderful and mind clearing.

I cant imagine not being able to get out of an apartment, away from people and having to sit there and stew on all the problems of the day.
Sounds like a pretty good morning.

The hospital where Mrs 99 works is right next to the football stadium. She has to work at 11. UK just beat floriduh and the whole town is going crazy and burning couches and stuff.

She's gone B late. Says she hasn't moved in 15 minutes but can see the parking garage.

One day I will move out of the city.
Your morning yesterday sounds wonderful and at different points in my life I lived in a quiet suburb, lived in Hayward Wisconsin, lived in Lawrence Kansas. Each had their own charms but overall, as a single 54 year old man who works in the city, has doctors and medical care in the city, and has an 88 year old mother that I look after who lives in the city, right or wrong, I feel the city is the best place for me to reside at this time.

Thankfully I am free to leave the city (although my not owning a car at this time makes it a bit more difficult) and at times I do. There are times when I am in the city that I appreciate living in the city.
I had a wonderful day on Friday having lunch with two friends in a neighborhood I don't often get to. I walked home about 5 miles and enjoyed walking through Grant Park, Millennium Park, along the lake, etc. The problem I am having these days (actually over the past 2 years) is that crime has skyrocketed and we have leaders who don't and won't admit it nor will they say it's a focus and/or priority for them to address. NO ONE should have to live in fear simply because they live in the city. Awareness and alertness is great but fear sucks.

* Edit
NOT funny is that 5 minutes after I posted this I got an alert on my phone that two men with guns were harassing another man a half block ("600 feet") away from where I live.
I'm telling you, a) this shit is never ending and seemingly getting worse and b) this is further proof you're not safe walking your dog and minding your own business in a GOOD neighborhood.

Awful good depresses me.
Mrs 99 wanted "Chinese" "food" for lunch. We went to a place where we hadn't been before but it's close. It was set up as a cafeteria. You pick your rice/noodles, then two entrees and egg roll or soup. I had General Tso's chicken and beef with mixed veggies. Wife had sweet n sour chicken with GT's chicken.

It was way too sweet, cold, and the stuff that was supposed to be crispy coating was a mushy goo. The General, if he ever existed, is rolling over in his grave.

On Saturday, we went to a restaurant that Mrs 99 has been to with her friends and loved it. I ordered a burger cooked medium and fries. I'm not sure this thing ever saw the grill. It was so raw. It probably would have been a good burger, but wow, the think was still moooing.

I was walking thru the alley behind Grinders yesterday at about 11:30 and there was someone going through "my" dumpster.

Me: "hey asshole that is my dumpster, if you are hungry go find another restaurant dumpster before I kick the shit out of you!"

Feral: " sorry Japhy, I didn't know this was your dumpster."

Me: "hey dude, I didn't know you were in town, we can share, just for today. There might even be enough beer left in this malt liquor can that we can both have drink"

Turns out he is here to visit his mom and to attend a memorial service his wife's sisters had planned. They held off until now because of covid. He said they sent him a RT bus ticket so he could attend. But until then they told him to make himself scarce so he was hanging out downtown. I called Defix and he dropped by and bought us a hot dog to split at the Sinclair station on Grand. He has a job and steady income and is nice like that.

Feral seems to be doing wellish. I asked him if he wanted me to tell anyone hello and he said "yeah, maybe Leawood". I called Leawood to see if he wanted to meet us and share a gas station hot dog and he reminded me that he doesn't want to be seen in public with me downtown within a mile of his office and so we left it at that.

Anyway, hey Leawood, Feral says "hello".

Feral says he is hopping a train back to Florida this weekend. He is going to cash in the return bus ticket for beer money for the ride home. He is a smart retiree like that.

Win, lose, tie. I can't really figure it out. Was a few seconds of entertainment for me thanks to Boris the Spider.

On a completely unrelated note....
I will be attending the Chicago Sky - Connecticut Sun game this evening.
Sky win and they are in the Finals.
I know, that and $2.25 gets me a ride on a bus and 2 plus hours of sitting watching ________________ .
Dumbass me has a relative who works for the Sky. I accepted the ticket thinking I would be seeing him tonight and he would be happy I was there supporting the Sky.
Well, that's not going to happen. He's home with Covid. Thankfully he hasn't been in close contact with the players.

Not really. He doesn't play for or coach the team. Nor is he a stadium worker. He's an "executive".
Not sure his exact title.
Most of us assume he got it because he's a 20 something year old who goes and hangs out at bars almost nightly.
Then again, it only takes one person to spread it so he could have caught it any of many possible ways.

Speaking of Covid and Basketball.....

The Rev Jess Jack semi-fresh out of the hospital and rehab for Covid. https://www.cnn.com/2021/09/22/us/jesse ... index.html

Hard to tell from this pic but the dude looked like shit. Probably shouldn't have attended the game.

My dog brought home a dead cardinal last night that I'm pretty certain my cat killed ( symbolism MLB ).

It was bleeding slightly.
Is the blood synthetic like the movie Alien or tv show Westworld?

so we randomly have this high maintenance guest, pain in the ass all week. She leaves her room trashed. We impose an excessive clean fee of $50, which we never do otherwise.

A week later she calls loosing her mind, screaming and swearing, insisting she left the place clean. Goes full Karen about speaking to a manager. We email her pics the housekeeper took of the trashed unit, and CC the manager per guest’s request.

Next day, she replies with this lengthy incoherent rant of an email about how it’s so unfair to treat a good honest OBGYN like this and she’s taking legal action against us. Over a $50 clean fee.

Wait, OBGYN? So I google her name and read reviews. And oh man, didn’t know a doctor could have so many bad ones:

“Dr (yall) is a pig as a doctor. She leaves all dirty equipment in the sink, she will do a vaginal and not remove her gloves & proceeds to type on the computer. She has medicines that have been expired for over five years. She is the most disgusting doctor ever. She waters down the stem cell therapy, she wrote me a prescription and when I got to my pharmacist, the script was for someone else. Do not go to this doctor as she is on the brink of dementia. She does not sterilize her equipment and they are all full of rust!“

Ma’am, if even your fucking doctor’s office is filthy, how do you expect us to believe you cleaned your vacation rental?

Lol the dirty doctor chick wrote us a long ranting diatribe of an email, then called again and cursed out a coworker, who very professionally told her the clean fee stands and we consider the matter closed so stop yelling at us. So here comes the legal action! Good luck with that $50 lawsuit yall.

How does disputing a credit card charge work?

If she did so, does the CC company contact us to hear our side?

Cuz like, here’s pics of the trashed unit, along with her war and peace email about lord knows what.

And trying to keep the thread on topic, don’t some doctor’s offices have like a “emotional” service fee for patients who like cry or are difficult?
