Afghanistan
Re: Afghanistan
Someone needs to be held accountable for this. This Bush-like need for immediate revenge, good intelligence be damned approach resulted in us murdering children. And if nobody does get fired for this, then Biden needs to resign.
Re: Afghanistan
Yeah, that is not good at all. Someone is going to have to stand up and fess up to either completely missing or ignoring something intel-wise. It will be interesting to hear how much they share as to who bears the brunt of this decision.
Re: Afghanistan
Someone also needs to be held accountable for the deaths of 13 service men and women and I ain’t talking about Biden.

Re: Afghanistan
When you eliminate all your exits and tell everyone where you're gonna be and when you're gonna be there you are advertising to your enemies.
It was a poor exit strategy regardless of who designed it....compounded by a poor aftet attack response.

At least we have been told by dear leader where the buck stops. The that's a decent place to start.

Not too sure why the WGN story didn't mention who it was that put these kids on the plane.
I'm completely torn if I feel this story is a big or little deal.
Re: Afghanistan
so long as it ends “well” for the kids it should be a good story (little deal), unless someone takes issue with fugees in Chicago or fugees in generalNotGutterGutter wrote: ↑Wed Sep 22, 2021 5:08 pmI laughed - and it isn't funny.TraditionKU wrote: ↑Wed Sep 22, 2021 5:03 pmthey should be glad they aren’t HaitiansNotGutterGutter wrote: ↑Wed Sep 22, 2021 5:00 pm https://wgntv.com/news/chicago-news/una ... n-chicago/

i’ll add that it may very well be tragic regardless, depending on the kids’ backstories. are they orphans? did their parents “abandon” them to US forces so that might have a better life here than they likely would’ve had back home?
Re: Afghanistan
Of course I hope it does end well for the kids. No doubt all these kids have backstories and I would like to hear all of them. I'm wondering the range in regards to harshness and non-harshness.TraditionKU wrote: ↑Wed Sep 22, 2021 5:11 pmso long as it ends “well” for the kids it should be a good story (little deal), unless someone takes issue with fugees in Chicago or fugees in generalNotGutterGutter wrote: ↑Wed Sep 22, 2021 5:08 pmI laughed - and it isn't funny.

Reminds me of this pic I took at O'Hare about 2 weeks ago. I had many thoughts about where these people may be from and it was as simple as my asking them - and yet I gave them their privacy.
The thing is, if they were Afghan refugees, I would have liked to have said a kind word or two to them.

We should probably worry more about ourselves and what we do and don't do and less about others and what they do and don't do. Or at least be less judgmental about people and things that really don't and/or shouldn't concern us. Hey, it's just a thought! Obviously you can and should do as you please.
