If I can avoid subtitles, I definitely will.

Good cinema uses eye tracing and you loose some of that when looking ( typically ) at the bottom of the screen all the time. So if I can have the volume up and it’s dubbed, give me that.

But subtitles is better than low to no volume and guessing.

So it’s not new, but Shawshank Redemption is one of my GOAT movies.

Watched it again the other day, and now struggling with the escape at the end.

Digging the tunnel seems plausible enough, if you had 27 years to do it.

But then, in the bowels of the prison, he manages to bust through some giant sewage pipe? In like 3 tries with a rock he just found? And bust a hole big enough to get through? Then crawl through “500 yards of shit-smelling foulness” without suffocating? Howd he even know which direction to crawl?

On second thought, my GOAT movie shall still remain Jurassic Park.

Way more believable.

Especially the goat scene.

he probably woulda followed the direction of flow

but yes, making a big enough hole with that rock seemed like a stretch. but who knows...was that a lead pipe, or some other material? doubtful that it would have been as strong as today’s material

it’s really a fantastic movie though

Yeah, so good.

I like the flow theory.

And so much of it is so believable otherwise, so if that’s the only moment we’re expected to allow a little “suspended disbelief” and just enjoy some great storytelling, then ok.

It’s at least more believable than “maybe a T. rex busts a hole through it,” I guess.

Isn’t it a Stephen King novel? I wonder if that’s how it went down in the book…

Biggest differences, according to this site:

The warden simply resigns in disgrace in the book, rather than going out with a bang

The book has 3 difference wardens throughout the story, none of which play a role as integral as the one in the movie

In the book, Red really was Irish

Tommy (the young punk who has info that could exonerate Andy) just gets transferred to another prison, rather than killed by the scheming warden

Andy and Red don’t reunite at the end of the book

Among other differences…

Once I blocked his shot in a basketball game.
The next day my car tried to kill me.

That’s pretty rad, but still, it’s not like you ate lunch with him at the underground.

pretty obvious that you would crawl downhill.....that doesn't take much intuition to figure out.

the hole..yea....thats tough. Lead is surprisingly soft though...so, if it was lead....yea maybe.

why would he suffocate? the pipe is never full of fluid...ever. The build up of methane tho, might be a problem without more breather holes.

Nobody else watching Only Murders in the Building on Hulu? I'll watch about anything with Steve Martin and Martin Short in it. Selena Gomez is really good in it too, making it relevant for the whippersnappers.

10th and final episode airing on Tuesday, for those of you that prefer to binge your shows. A second season has already been ordered.

Love it.
Though that last episode season 2 felt so rushed.

So started Squid Games last night, watched episode 1 and about half of the episode 2. I don't know, I just couldn't really get into it. I don't get all the hype.

So South Park has been doing a poll across social media to decide the best episode. Results are in!

What do you think?

What’s your favorite episode?
