This is a bad trend developing. At times you thought Daniels might be the future but he steadily, maybe even rapidly got worse. I see the same things with Bean. Two weeks of prep and he looked awful.

I don't see how KU's football program will ever be consistently better than any other program in the league.

Granted he was hired late and only had summer to do an install much less recruit and get his guys in. Even if you give LL a pass for this year you can’t tell me that this year hasn’t been a complete failure.

The best you can hope for is you take the best of the FBS, the castoffs of other Power 5s and then get comfortable because I can’t see this getting turned around for another couple of years.

A freaking nightmare. Tech isn't even as good as their team we beat a few years ago. WTF Leipold?

The Athletic has a newer article...

The Hardest Jobs In College Football (Power 5):

1.) Vandy

2.) KU
Kansas has won before. Now consider this qualifier from a former Power 5 head coach: “Mark Mangino needs two statues. They went to the Orange Bowl and won. They fired him because he was mean.”
The Jayhawks have not been the same since, making wrong hire after wrong hire for both head coaches and athletic directors. How else do you explain the program placing the No. 1 and No. 2 choices in The Athletic’s rankings earlier this season of the most confounding coaching hires of the past 10 years? (And there is plenty of healthy debate among Kansas fans about who was actually worse: Charlie Weis or Les Miles?)
Coaches and agents pointed to the shadow of men’s basketball, the lack of football history and so-so facilities. Perhaps that all changes with the recent hires of Travis Goff and Lance Leipold, but they are starting from a very rough spot.
“What a nightmare,” an agent said.

3.) Nebraska
4.) Texas
5.) Washington St.
6.) Miami
7.) Auburn
8.) Tennessee
9.) Wake Forrest
10.) Michigan

I wouldn't think Texas would be one of the "hardest" jobs.
Only other consistently great team in the conference is going to be Oklahoma.
Maybe "hardest" in regards to expectations and being on the hot seat?

It was a tough game. Need to get better lineman and linebackers. I think the staff will develop the players and the play calling will change as the players develop. It will take time. It will happen.

This is, unfortunately, a throw-away year. If you thought otherwise, accept reality.

Hired in May. No spring practice.

No recruits.

The guy can coach. Whether he, or anyone, can be successful at Kansas remains to be seen.

I am hopeful.

None of that explains regression following a week off though.

Agree with hotspring point, but also agree with you PhD. Was super bummed to see the lack of execution coming out of a bye week. Just uninspired football.

Leipold has a lot of work to do soon.

So...yes, barely.

I'd say that "no" is a safe bet.

The team looked so much worse than before against Tech. It was an incredibly bad performance after they had pumped up fans. We have seen many nadirs, but I am about done. My God that was bad coaching.

Part of me says there will be a game where KU will just give a top Big 12 team all they can handle. Don't know if it'll be this game though. OU though struggled with a pretty average West Va team in Norman. Granted, that was with Rattler. Williams is a baller.

But I just think there's going to be a game where Bean finds his groove again. With his legs leading the way. Just don't think it'll be Saturday.

I think KU covers, but it might be right at 38. I think Leipold and staff were embarrassed by last Saturday. My hope is that they come out aggressive and open up the playbook.

Could easily see OU 52 KU 14.

Just realized that is what Vegas is saying. lol
