I would never hire ousdahl for any position where I would actually expect effort and results. I would end up as the subject of one of his many thoughtful discussion threads where we don't discuss anything but complain about everything.

I thought thats what we did here....complain but not actually so anything?

dammit, thats my problem...I'm actually working on it.

you can talk to me when you make a decision to do something and take steps toward your goals. I do complain sometimes...we all do. But I also spent a ton of time this summer...while working....to create a business, get licensed, go through all the hoops and chase work and create a brand. This...so that I could change my path to something I found more beneficial and more suited for me. Time will tell if thats successful or correct. But there are always going to be parts of every job that suck. That doesn't mean they don't have to be done.....even if we complain about them first.

I'm all for your complaints if they lead to action instead of just being fodder for "discussion" on a message board about Kansas Basketball

Once you are out there for a bit and have some dollars to throw around, and think you want to build that Brand, you can call Elton, Ousdahl or me.

And what you are talking about ( to create a business, get licensed, go through all the hoops and chase work and create a brand ) I am currently doing for myself as I've gone full freelance.

Different though when you work in that business, doing it for yourself.

yea its fun...lots of making sure things are in the right order and particular steps are followed and paperwork in order and testing completed and insurance and bonding paid etc.....then lots of hours on the phone with our layers of beauracracy to chase down progress and keep things moving

Maybe it can just be “Hot or Not,” and get back to what Zuck first started out to accomplish:

Rate how attractive chicks from CnB’s dorm are.

Yea kinda creepy, but still comparatively innocuous once you consider the whole “destroy democracy” thing that Facebook since became.

I don’t think Zuckerberg wants to house Facebook and his other related properties under a new umbrella brand because the metaverse is upon us and happy days are here again. I think he’s doing it because it’s a distraction — for himself and for those watching his company. He’s doing it so he can continue avoiding the hard decisions that a mature and responsible executive must make when confronted with a corporation that has grown into an incredibly lucrative, unwieldy and sometimes dangerous kraken. He’s young, for one thing, and he also appears to be surrounded by yes-people and other advisers who reinforce his biases or encourage his worst libertarian instincts — a common fate among wealthy or powerful people who lack empathy, self-awareness or the self-confidence to invite and tolerate dissent.

Zuckerberg certainly isn’t immune to the idea of doing good in the world. He and his wife have generously funded and committed almost the entirety of their Facebook shares to an institute dedicated to education, immigration reform, criminal justice, public health and disease prevention. (Ironically, the catastrophic Covid-19 predations embedded on Facebook undermine some of their institute’s work.)

Despite such laudable endeavors, Zuckerberg is failing to address problems at Facebook that he has a unilateral ability to fix. That path is also clear. As my colleagues Parmy Olson and Tae Kim have pointed out, Haugen’s testimony provided at least four obvious changes Zuckerberg could embrace: (1) eliminating engagement-based ranking algorithms; (2) heightened content moderation; (3) support for a federal regulator to audit Facebook’s features and algorithms; and (4) routine, transparent data disclosures to researchers.

There’s one thing that’s not on that list: a corporate name change.

is there a way to set up a business bookface page without linking it to s personal account....since...I dont have a personal account? So far I haven't figured out how to yet and it won't let me just input my business name and contact info to start an account...it kicks it back saying its not a "real" person blah blah

No, you’ll need a personal account.
You can create a dummy one.

If it won’t let you start a page using just a business name, yea, try a dummy name. Like, oh I dunno, how about: Socky McSpambot.
