Oktoberfest
Re: Oktoberfest
Do you mean a specific Oktoberfest beer or just beers brewed for Oktoberfest?
Re: Oktoberfest
Wait, what’s the difference?
The Märzen style lager.
You know, cuz there’s no better way to celebrate Oktoberfest than with a beer named after another month.

Re: Oktoberfest
There are beers brewed by all sorts of breweries for Oktoberfest.
Your second sentence answered my question ( style ).
Germany's fairly strict/traditional with their Bavarian breweries being the only Oktoberfest beers allowed in Munich.
But Sam Adams makes an Oktoberfest.
So does Boulevard.
I'm sure 23rd street Brewery and Lawrence Beer Company make one.

Re: Oktoberfest
Yeah, I’d like to find some Bob’s 47 out here.
Are there other styles traditionally brewed for Oktoberfest? Or is it always that medium bodied sorta carmelly/amber lager from March madness?

Re: Oktoberfest
And I’m all about the German purity shit when it comes to brewing.
Sorry Belgium but keep the fruits and berries and coriander and shame outta my beer.

Re: Oktoberfest
is that the new flavor of Smirnoff ice?
Re: Oktoberfest
I don't think the German Oktoberfest beer is what you'd be expecting. Its darker than a pilsner for sure but it's not as malty/red as the American style.
Re: Oktoberfest
Dang.
What next, you gonna tell me the actual German October festival is nothing like it is in the movies either?

Re: Oktoberfest
I've had Hofbrau, Spaten and Paulaner.
Paulaner makes a great pils.
