A good amount of people i'm sure still find him funny.
And in a sense, the author is applying what his own restrictions on overstepping freedom are based on the people with whom he agrees and of whom read his content.

You overstep your freedom because I ( we - the people who think like me ) deem you overstepping your freedom.
Don't mind all these other people who don't think you are.
