I don’t think Och/Braun/Jalen will all collectively struggle to shoot or finish as much as they did.

We’ve got 3 experienced transfers who scored a combined 46ppg at the D1 level last year. And only one is projected to start.

So that bench already projects a lot better than a true freshman shooting guard who can’t shoot, and a juco wing.
I think and hope we'll be fine, but consistent scoring would be my bet as to the "weakest" aspect of this team.
Yeah, I don't see it. I don't think we will really have many weaknesses this year. I suppose we don't have a lot of interior defense?

Yeah, we're definitely in trouble in March/April if we run into a team that hammers away inside. Because if Dave has to sit then we're relying on Mitch Lightfoot...

I dont know Remy but Vonte does have ( or I thought, bofh fact check ) good wingspan.

Maybe just like, a lack of star power?

We don’t have anyone who projects as a sure fire nba player.

But then again, we’ve had a lot of seasons where no one projected as nba players but are still in the league anyway

In 16 did we have a sure fire NBA player?
If it weren't for the officials giving Vonte several phantom fouls, we mighta won a title that year.
We dominated the B12.

I’m bullish on the shooting. I think Braun and Och’s percentages in particular were held back by how tough their looks were. Should be a different story this year.

We’ll be just fine. Lack the nba talent to put up 85 on any given night, but I bet we’re top 10 KenPom offense.

Bigger takeaway is the lack of weaknesses and any weakness is still like top 25 good.

I also think that, while Remy might not be a “go-to guy” in the way Frank was (which: who is?), we will have a “go-to set” when needed: let Remy beat a guy and figure things out.

Gonna be nice finally have a guy again that can hit a pull up or beat his man all the way to the rim. Just a glaring hole last season when we needed a bucket.

Someone link this one already?

Player of the Year

Medcalf: Marcus Carr, Texas
Borzello: David McCormack, Kansas
Gasaway: Remy Martin, Kansas
Lunardi: Remy Martin, Kansas

Kansas is always a story in the Big 12, and nationally. Give the world one reason why the No. 3 Jayhawks will live up to their Final Four billing, and one thing that worries you about Bill Self's team?

Medcalf:
The concern? I wonder if these Jayhawks are just too nice.

Borzello:
If there's one concern, it's how Martin adjusts his game at Kansas...He won't need to score as much, he won't be playing as fast and he'll have to defer to his teammates much more often.

Gasaway:
Now for the gloom and doom! KU was just average on offense in Big 12 play last season. Does that really change so dramatically with maturation and the arrival of Martin?

Lundardi:
One reason? Probability. No program in America is as consistently positioned for a Final Four or national championship than the Jayhawks.

I read it. Medcalf is a fool. Elijah Johnson as a dog. And then the 2014 team analysis isn't quite right, either.

Honestly I think this team is going to light it up from 3. could be one of the best. the returning guys all shoot the ball pretty well for their positions. I can't think of a guy in the rotation who isn't a good shooter for his position (no marcus garretts)

I think last years team had a problem with creating open shoots. not with making open shots

I think they'll be good but not one of the best. They definitely will shoot it more from three than previous Self teams though.

2016, 2017, 2018--with those players, will be tough to beat.

Dangit we effing better be better from 3.

I think the goal would be to up our 3 point percentage to 37% while continuing to shoot around 22 3's a game.
It's a big ask ( we shot 34.2% last season ) - but I think doable.

Also need to up our 2 point % significantly as well - to 53% - from 49%.
Also I think doable with a senior DMac and a couple players who can drive to the basket.

Spacing will be a lot better. Bill should be better with his preferred type of guard(s), as well.
