OK, cool. They just replayed it again. He had his hand on the ball and his wrist hit his face mask. Louis Riddick's description as a "phantom face mask call" was accurate. KC caught a break for once. Haven't gotten many of them this year.
Hands to face at least. In real time it snapped the head. My bitch is that the announcers kept whining about it. And the free play interception. Mahomes had issues, but he had a chance to make a play there.

I changed hats back to my 2019 version. I will get zero credit.

I am intrigued by having Gore and Gordon starting to get involved. Teams are playing electric football crazy defense alignments.

Note: Brian Griese is the dumbest SOB on TV. Does not understand free play. Still harping on the interception. Mahomes drew them offsides. Saw the flag. Made a risky throw. Because of flag. STFU.

I think they are 5-6 at the bye and go 5-1 the rest of the way.

Sticking with 10-7.

I would like that very much, but I don’t think we’ve seen *anything* this season that supports optimism.

So... At what point does the buck stop with Andy. It's been players, and then execution issues, but man, the Chiefs have had a soft cover 2 going against them for 5 weeks and NOTHING has changed. Yesterday was a bit better, but it seems like things are not called to beat that defense.

I disagree. I don't think the Chiefs have been nearly as bad as the narrative around them. They should be 6-2 while playing the hardest schedule in the league. They CEH fumble against Baltimore and the horrible combination of PI against KC and the no call against SD cost the Chiefs 2 wins.

It is what it is, one of the many reasons why the NFL is far and away the best league in the US. KC has been wildly unlucky this season while also being incredible stubborn offensively. They've also been banged up all season. Not as good of a team as they've been the last couple of years, but they're also not a "7 win ceiling" team either.

I've said this a few times, but it's worth repeating. Football makes people dumb. They is so little context among football fans. Everything is hot takes and overreactions.

Probably when sometime when he doesn't have a .699 regular season winning percentage, a .538 playoff winning percentage, 5 straight AFC West titles, 3 straight AFC Championship Game appearances, 2 Straight Super Bowl Appearance and a Super Bowl victory 2 seasons ago.

That first drive of scripted plays was Andy Reid of old. Then the turnover bug bit. Then for awhile I thought they looked completely lost. The running game looked good for spurts but yeah, way to many times Mahomes looked confused or just didn't have anyone open.

Cover 2 can come at you in a lot of different ways and without seeing the All 22 I'm assuming they are seeing everything. I know this, I freaking love Patrick. Zero doubt about that but he simply has to play better. Far too many times I saw him complete passes but they were behind or not in stride. If teams are going to play conservative you may get two or three times to catch them in man coverage. When you get that chance you have to make the play. He missed Tyreek on a shot that could have completely flipped the game.

Right now, at least what I see is they have to win on first down. If they get a second and long which turns into a third and long with the coverages they are seeing guys either aren't getting open or the offensive line isn't holding up thus making Mahomes press to make plays. Those Mahomes Magic of old are gone.

The schedule this year was so front-loaded that there just wasn't any room for error. Even so, the Chiefs should be 6-2. I am not going to flip out about the seven ricochet interceptions. Sorenson playing is another story. Kelce needs to heal. The Chiefs lack some talent and the band-aid fell off. They need to let Mahomes work behind a good run scheme and it will work out.

You need to bench Sorenson or Neiman immediately. It won't happen.

Keep running the ball and letting Patrick work the intermediate stuff. When the opportunity (ies) present themselves take a shot.

Really what this team needs is a long offseason and then a complete refresh both personnel and coaching.

You give Spags the rest of the season ( i don't like mid season coaching changes ) but unless there is a vast improvement ( and I don't see that happening ), he gotta be gone.

He used to get 4 or 5 of these a game. Now it's one. And it's rare that he hits it.

Not calling for his job. But something has to be said about his performance as well. Not living up to his reputation. He's not patient enough to run the ball consistently. And it's been the same coverages. Same concept of 2 deep safeties 15-20 yards off the line. Bracket coverage on Kelce and Hill and nobody else is getting open. Don't know if that's a player issue or a coach issue, but it seems like there hasn't been as much of an adjustment as we would like to see.

I'll agree that the play calling has not been ideal. KC needs to run more because the defenses are giving them that.

However, Mahomes deserves some of the blame in the passing game. He's not taking the underneath routes enough and holding the ball too long. He wants the big chunk plays.

Frankly, they've both been way too stubborn this season. I'm confident that will change.

Chiefs acquired LB Melvin Ingram from the Steelers in exchange for a 2022 sixth-round draft pick.
Ingram, 32, has seen a reduction in playing time as the 2021 season has worn on. He was clearly unhappy in Pittsburgh and will join a Chiefs defense that has pressured the passer at a 23 percent clip this season, the 12th lowest in the NFL. Ingram will likely join Frank Clark as Kansas City's primary EDGE rushers for the rest of the year. Ingram has 11 quarterback hurries and one sack through eight weeks.
