The Travel Thread
Re: The Travel Thread
Going to the Dominican Republic next week. Planning on showing my sober, pregnant woman just how blackout drunk I can get with the help of a little bit of elbow grease and a can-do attitude.
Ain't no seats
Re: The Travel Thread
Pics or it didn't happen.
Re: The Travel Thread
Puerto Plata or Puerto Cana?
Re: The Travel Thread
We did a "babymoon" or whatever a few years ago when Mrs. Fish was pregnant with our last daughter. Didn't have the other kids, and obviously Mrs. Fish wasn't drinking, so we stayed at a swanky non-all-inclusive.
Her drinks (virgin pina coladas and so on) were more significantly expensive than mine!

if you visit South Africa, check the toilet before sitting down...

Most of the meals ended up being planned for us, so I couldn't check many of these out.jhawks99 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 29, 2021 1:26 pm Charleston SC?
I like Pearlz Oyster Bar. I stop by here everyday I'm in town.
Had a good dinner at Husk
SNOB
5Church is really cool
Haven't been to Hymen's but there's always a huge line out front. Seems kinda touristy to me.
Had the best steak of my life at Grill 225. It is in the Market Pavilion Hotel we stayed at and we got vouchers for $50 bucks in food and beverage per day. Didn't really put a dent in the bill that night though. It was after an 8 hour drive from Lex, we checked in and then got a seat. I was all prepared for some seafood when the server said, "all of our steaks are 45 day dry aged prime". I had the 12 oz ribeye with hash browns and a Cab. Jumbo crab app to start.
If the weather is nice, this same hotel has a rooftop bar. Great views, really good food there as well.
For late night bad behavior I like Blind Tiger. There's usually some live music and it's a pretty good dive bar.
Mrs 99 liked the ghost tours. They have some pretty cool ones.
Blind Tiger was a good time. Carolina BBQ was pretty good. Did a place called Felix, which seems like millennials' take on French--good food and drink, though.
Was going to check out James Beard Award winner at The Ordinary, but got food poisoning from an afternoon snack.
High 40's, high wind, and rain during about 75% of our free time.
Re: The Travel Thread
After reading you went to Blind Tiger in SC, and there being a Blind Tiger I used to go to in NYC, and there being a Blind Tiger here in Portland, I looked up Blind Tiger.
Another name for a speakeasy ( coined in the late 19th century in the US ).
I did not know that.

Makes sense. There's a pretty good brewery in Topeka that is Blind Tiger. A short lived bar closed in KC during COVID called Blind Tiger.

Every time I've been there it's been like 100 freakin degrees with 800% humidity. Didn't know it got into the 40s.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 10:25 amMost of the meals ended up being planned for us, so I couldn't check many of these out.jhawks99 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 29, 2021 1:26 pm Charleston SC?

Sux that you got food poisoning. Kinda puts a dent in things.
Defense. Rebounds.

Euros are weird.
Re: The Travel Thread
people who want to have sex on sand are weird (or wasted)…be it on a dune or a beach
Re: The Travel Thread
Tried it a couple times.
Just got sand in places you don't want.
And it's really scratchy on the BUD.

Re: The Travel Thread
So should we go to Austria and then the Canary Islands or the other way around?
