Is that link being funky now?

Let’s try again.

https://www.cnn.com/2021/11/10/business ... index.html

But this was my fave part:
Roughly half of Americans, 49%, say they know someone who they think was persuaded to believe in a conspiracy theory because of content on Facebook.

Well, according to randy, there is no difference between 1% and .01%

**or something close to that, PhD can verify

Two different cases.

First, as the co-admin of a website, and the other admin decides he wants a admin@website.com type of address. I follow the Google business prompts to create it, but keep getting an error message that “this domain is owned by someone else.”

The owner is the other admin, an old guy with health problems, and always been high maintenance either way. I keep explaining that he, as the owner of this domain, needs to login to the prompt Google is sending him and add me as a site owner so I can do it, or give me his login info, or just follow the like 2 clicks it takes to create the email on his own.

Every time he just forwards me the prompt (but not the login info), so that all I can do is get a screen that says “your account is not set up as owner or admin of this domain, please contact the owner.” And the dood keeps acting like I’m just being a lazy entitled millennial by asking him to follow the prompts on his end, as if I’m just trying to get out of doing the hard work.

OK that was a tangential professionalism rant, but one of the things he kept asking is for me to contact Google so they and I could just figure out how to do it for him. I did, and finally like 3 days later I get a reply from Google support that’s little more than “please provide us your phone number.”

Umm why? Can’t we just do this online so I then have a written record of what to do? And when are you gonna call? Should I just sit around for 3 more days in eager anticipation?

And if and when you DO call, how are you gonna react when I make the smartass observation that, no sorry I can’t login to my Google account right now, I normally do that on my phone and am now otherwise caught up on this call you requested instead.

Whoa, sorry, that got too long.

Second Google support request!

At work, we suddenly start getting calls about this other bidness, cuz apparently Google somehow erroneously listed our number as that bidness’s contact info.

So I put in another Google support request. I explain that searching for the other business name yields our business’s contact info in error.

3 days later, I get another reply from support, asking me to clarify what exactly this issue is, and to take a screenshot to illustrate. They assure me they’ll help to “provide the best possible solution”

They also provide a link to the help center (apparently not to be confused with the support center), and offer to jump on a call, if I would just go ahead and provide a phone number.

You sound like my students, who type an entire term paper on the Notes function on their smartphone and then try to turn in 15 screen shots of pages.

My response: Some people have these things called "personal computers" - you know, the thing you brought to class the first day and I made you put back in your bag so that you could pay attention while I'm talking - that they do their work on. And even if they don't, there's a place called the "Library Computer Lab" that your tuition dollars are paying for, and which makes 30 "computers" readily available for your use.

Yes, you have to get off your bed and out of your dorm room, but is it really harder than typing a 15 page term paper on a tiny screen with your thumbs?!?

Whoa, 15 screen shots of pages?!

Isn’t this another one of those things we’re better off instead just hopping on a phone call to address?
