I think it depends on whether or not it was your property that was destroyed. It is pretty easy to sit back from where we are and say "It's just stuff" or "You have insurance". When it is your business or your home or your car, it is a big deal.

100 buildings destroyed, 40 damaged, and ~$50 million in estimated costs seems significant to me.
