Broken windshields are this inevitable result of driving in the mountains, where plow trucks put traction sand all over the road with the salt, and inevitably gets kicked up by other cars

Their frames flex a lot. That is what causes the windshield cracks to spread so badly.

i’ve had to replace both windshield and rear window on our Forster in the past year or so. Safelite worked just fine both times

that said, my folks had issues getting their windshield replaced because their fancy Rav4 has all the technology built into the windshield and weren’t informed by the Safelite tech that they needed the more expensive replacement. they’ve been driving around with the maintenance/service warning light on for more than a year

Not bashing them, it just is what it is. The same way that Jeep Wrangler windshields come in 2 forms, broken, or about to be.

The funny thing is, there are several chips that have been there for a while with little 1/4” cracks already spidering out from them, just waiting to grow.

But these cracks started not from those chips, but seemingly outta nowhere.

So this morning I treated myself to what I call "good coffee" from Crows Coffee in Waldo after dropping my boxer off for day play. Maybe my gut is just so used to regular coffee from my Keurig, but man, my stomach does not feel so good. Maybe it's too rich for me or I'm just getting old. It tastes damn good though...

Man. Fuckin roommates. Fuckin landlords.

So our house has heat elements on the roof to prevent too much snow from piling. They’re supposed to automatically turn on and off when it snows. The switch is downstairs, in our laundry room, by the other breakers. The landlord asked us to take care of it.

The landlord has always been OCD about them, like a dad barking at kids to turn off every light in the house, even though it’s as simple as, flip the breaker on in November and back off in April, depending on the snow.

But the landlord bugs us relentlessly about it all year just the same. He’s even threatened to raise rent and such, in classic patronizing dad mode, cuz we aren’t holding up our end of the bargain.

So the landlord sent his usual heat switch text that he sends like once a month. And outta nowhere, Beav blurts out “oh actually I think it’s just been left on forever anyway hee hee lol”

God fucking damnit Beav. I honestly didn’t know you could so firmly put your stupid webbed foot in your stupid bucktooth mouth.

I call him out, and he goes into victim mode, like what’s the big deal why shouldn’t have he just said that. Dude, it’s a matter of not throwing red meat to a guy already hounding us. Read the fucking room!

Now, best case, the hounding remains at the same constant level. Worst case, it gets more relentless, he raises rent (again), maybe even just starts barging into our place whenever he wants to check, or just gets pissed and kicks us out.

And now Beav went into defiant toddler mode, like “whatever bro it’s not my heat switch.” It is though! We live here, he asked us to take care of it, and it was never a big deal at all, a total of 10 seconds of work all year, until your dumbass opened your stupid fucking mouth.

So now I got the landlord pissed at us, and Beav being some pissed off oblivious defiant victim, over what’s a moot point cuz the heat automatically turns off either way.

The worst part is, DC is still being all coy so I couldn’t even rent his basement as a contingency plan.
