Dave was spastic enough to come out to the mid range instead of just putting his guy on his hip down low

It shoulda never come down to debating an offensive foul by a big man like a quarter mile from the hoop in the first place

Search David McCormack highlights 2020-21 and I'm sure you'll see lots of instances where he gets the ball in a similar spot, on either the left or right side, makes space and spins to the basket for a layup or hook.

He made 54 percent of his field goals last season.

Hes a good free throw shooter.

You are up one point. Dayton will likely get the ball back. Getting two would go a long way to winning. You don't need a 3.

I'd have preferred Ochai with the ball because hes running hot but again, its early. Self isn't dumb. Hes a great coach.

Yea.

I think Dave will be ok.

But I also think this team has enough firepower on the perimeter to not have to run end of game plays through Dave.

Gimme Remy with the ball working an iso while Dave creates space and Och runs around like Rip Hamilton.

And Christian Braun getting a Sheedtastic amount of technicals.

Dave was spastic enough to come out to the mid range instead of just putting his guy on his hip down low

And Christian Braun, as brilliant and handsome as he is, actually listened to the coach and stuck to the play instead of taking matters into his own hands and doing homosexual things to the D at the rim
You realize Remy blew up that play, right?

Yeah, it’s a shame Remy told Dave to throw his shoulder into that guy.

But I’m not that worried, as long as no one is blaming Braun!

Self shade:

"And I couldn’t tell if it was a charge or not. I guess he fell down. I don’t know, because it would be hard to take a charge and not fall down."

You are working on a project with a coworker. It's due tomorrow and you find out your coworker missed a bunch of parts. You scramble to put something together, and not surprisingly make a few mistakes.

You're blaming yourself for the sub-par project?

That’s good analysis. I see it now.

So Remy was supposed to go to the open corner, rather than cut under?

But even then.

“Yeah we said we were gonna run a little play that we run just to try and duck him in and try to get him fouled or close to the basket,” Self said”

Why in the eff did Self ever think Dave would do anything close to the basket?

Even if Remy executed, nobody told Dave to take big yuge steps in the opposite direction of the goal

Even if the play was executed well by Remy, I struggle to believe the best play at this point in this game was thinking something good would happen if you just stood therr until you deliberately tossed it from the outside in to Dave.

Fucking guards fucking move the fucking ball. Fucking fuck!

"Why in the eff did Self ever think Dave would do anything close to the basket?"

"The post pin with an over-the-top entry pass is a Kansas staple for easy buckets, and is something that McCormack has done well. Last year, he scored 42 points on 26 such possessions, per Synergy. And in this year, he’s scored six points on four possessions for an average of 1.5 points per possession. That’s elite—McCormack made 2-of-3 shots on those chances and on the fourth possession, he was fouled and made both free throws."

I guess.

And I guess Remy screwed that up. That’s something that’ll be ironed out as the season progresses.

But still, I just dunno how I feel about standing around the perimeter hoping for some angle for Dave. Or, at this point, for any big not named Dok.

Why didn’t Dave realize the play was blown? And otherwise once again double down on thinking he’s Dirk.

I’d ask why Christian didn’t realize it too and reset, but you guys know I don’t like to criticize that guy.

Nothing to guess.
Those are the statistics.

( i.e. on the tangent of why would Self think Dave would do something close to the basket )

What are the statistics of Dave moving away from the hoop once he has the ball?

I didn’t know free booze could still be so awful.

But Beav just passed out so imma crush some of his Busch and then stumble down to the crooked creek and see if there’s any hippie chicks there who wanna talk shit on hi lo offense.

He didnt in this case.
He backed his player down and the dude flopped and the ref fell for it.

Nah.

If the dude flopped he woulda hit the deck.

The dude visibly bounced back a bit cuz a 260 pound dood with some of the lowest bbiq of all time thought it was a good idea to take huge steps in the opposite direction of the hoop and start throwing shoulders.

It was a comedy of errors, but JFC that sucked.

And sorry to break it to you, but the only thing that determines whether it was an offensive foul, is whether the ref whistles.

Like for real even if no charge where was Dave going?

Right into another double team. Allsome.

But it’s more than 24 hours after a November holiday tournament buzzer beater and I’m still in midseason meltdown mode. Allsome!

So yeah imma spend the rest of the night down at the creek then wake up and keep pounding Beav Busch for the tip-off against the fighting Pitinos.

Man am I glad hoops is back!

Refs can make mistakes just like players and coaches.
It happened last night all on the same play.
