Interesting. The history of that whole area of Kansas and Missouri along the river from St. Joe south through KC is fascinating.Sparko wrote: ↑Thu Dec 09, 2021 1:19 pmBoth sides of my family fought off the Missouri bushwackers. Honest question, how many KU fans here have roots in the state of Kansas that go back to 1863?
I think my grandfather's Mom's side of his family moved to Doniphan County Kansas in the mid 1850s and his Dad's side moved to that area some time in the 1890s. So only one of my 16 GG-grandparents can be traced back to the area back then.

Re: Muck Fizzou 2021
My strong distaste for frickin' Mizzou stems from the a**hat Norm Stewart and the (mis)conduct of their fans (especially the antlers) at football games. The historical vileness of the bushwhackers is added justification for spitting when you refer to that school. imo.
Please, I implore you to be reasonable...

Wow.twocoach wrote: ↑Thu Dec 09, 2021 11:13 am The whole "slavery/Quantrill" as a reason seems forced. There are no Mizzou fans who have anything to do with that so it seems like a silly reason to hate them. And there are a ton of Kansas fans who like myself, were born and raised by Kansas grads/fans just over the state line in Missouri so it seems extra dumb.
Fail.
All the way around.
So you're saying, in life, there should be zero reason to dislike/have disdain for anything in history unless that person specifically was involved in the incident.
Re: Muck Fizzou 2021
Meh, the actual athletic rivalry provides enough ammunition for me to hate every inch of their athletic department. To each their own. If the revolting behavior of someone 150+ years ago gets you even more fired up then that's awesome. It all ends with us being excited to see KU whoops Mizzou's ass in basketball.

Whew.
And here I was thinking I was just forcing it.

Re: Muck Fizzou 2021
I am sure everyone is different. My dad grew up in Kansas City, Kansas and he regularly says "fuck those slavers" and he doesn't speak like that. Fwiw he's 70, so maybe it's a generational thing?

Re: Muck Fizzou 2021
This game will be Mrs. Wiff's first time experiencing AFH in person. She is a K-Stater who generally pays no attention whatsoever to sports - so much so that she didn't even know that the KU-Mizzou rivalry existed. She has absolutely no idea what she's about to witness or experience on Saturday.

Defense. Rebounds.
Re: Muck Fizzou 2021
haha…awesome
been trying to decide which i’d prefer if i had to pick:
1) hanging something like 125 on them
or
2) holding them under 50
(obviously both would be great)

Re: Muck Fizzou 2021
Ya I'd go A if i had to pick, but Mizzou only averaging 66pts per game against their shitty schedule so holding them under 60 probably isn't that unreasonable.
Re: Muck Fizzou 2021
Which is more memorable, dropping 150 on UK or holding them to 46?
