Guess we will see if he hates recruiting more than he likes getting paid to be a head coach of a basketball team.twocoach wrote: ↑Tue Jan 01, 2019 8:18 amExcept for the fact that he hates recruiting...IllinoisJayhawk wrote: ↑Mon Dec 31, 2018 10:35 am Hoiberg come on down.....

Yes, the recruiting is what he said he didn't enjoy, but how many people enjoy a job that they admit to hating a very important portion of the job duties?CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Mon Dec 31, 2018 2:25 pmI believe he said he didn't particularly enjoy recruiting.NDballer13 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 31, 2018 1:46 pmThe thing for me is that he has already said he doesn't enjoy being a college head coach. I'll answer for myself b/c this topic interests me: It's UCLA and L.A. The program sells itself. Hoiberg now has complete NBA chops in front office, scouting and head coaching that will help keep California kids at home.
He'll tie the program in with the Lakers and Clippers given his connections. He can obviously coach at this level. Good dude, too. He won't let LaVar Ball into the belly like Alford did.
Personally, I just think his name is being thrown around because he's one of the best that are unemployed right now. Even if it means there's no way he coaches there. Which is what I would bet on.
Regardless, all of my comments on why I think he would succeed are on the assumption that he would actually take the job. I would surely think he would not take the job if he did not want to coach college basketball again.

FWIW, I think you would find very few head coaches that enjoy recruiting. Maybe some of the assistants do, especially those that aren’t good at anything else (Snacks, KT).
Context also matters. I assume that The Mayor made those comments when asked about the advantages of coaching in the NBA over college. I would think recruiting is what every coach would immediately say is terrible about coaching college ball.

Maybe he'll find out he just hated trying to get players to want to go to Iowa State.IllinoisJayhawk wrote: ↑Tue Jan 01, 2019 9:34 amGuess we will see if he hates recruiting more than he likes getting paid to be a head coach of a basketball team.twocoach wrote: ↑Tue Jan 01, 2019 8:18 amExcept for the fact that he hates recruiting...IllinoisJayhawk wrote: ↑Mon Dec 31, 2018 10:35 am Hoiberg come on down.....

I trust he enjoyed his time in the northwest. Out for the season with a foot injury.
Honored to have been voted 2017 kansascrimson poster of the year

I’ll be in Pauley in 30 minutes. Sucks to be me but it’s keeping me out of trouble. Maybe I’ll start a WE WANT THE MAYOR chant to keep myself entertained. Or maybe not.
Re: NCAA Basketball 2018/2019
Change it to "We Want Walton" and see if you can start something.
Defense. Rebounds.

I'm watching Xavier and Seton Hall on Fox Sports OH.
There is a noticeable lack of crappola on the screen. No score/time/foul banner. No crawly thingie across the bottom of the screen. Just the basketball game.
I like it.

I'd love to see Danny get an upset over Duke in this game!
Re: NCAA Basketball 2018/2019
Go Baylor! Playing at home vs. Iowa State right now.
Re: NCAA Basketball 2018/2019
You're kidding right? It is advantageous to Kansas' Big 12 title aspirations for the other teams that look to be contenders to lose as many road games as possible. They are all going to win most if not all of their home games. The team with the best conference road record will win the Big 12.

We're like 2 games in. I'm not rooting for other teams in early January. Especially not Baylor. Plus, the only threat to us is TT. Just to spell it out for you.
