Pretty common. I have to pay something like $200/year to access remote features and app-based navigation.

The remote start is obviously relevant in winter and summer, and being able to preload navigation from a white-labeled map app is very useful. But it's an annoying expense.

ive never heard of subscription remote start before. That should be a 1 time payment for the feature.....maps get updated....minimally.... Your remote start shouldn't.

Also, why pay for nav when it exists on every phone for free? Just curious.

Nav is great.....sometimes. I might be the only person I know that still carries maps like the good old days. They work even when I have no service....as they should.....and I only have to buy them once....for the most part

My car has a head-up display that will show nav, but only if you use the native nav (won't play nice with Apple or Google). The feature is super convenient so it's worth the cost.

to each their own I suppose

I guess I've never cared if it was on a display...as long as I can hear the annoying lady say "turn left at cherry street" I'm good.

My car doesn't have Nav and I'm fine with that. I just use my Iphone and run it through bluetooth. If anybody is looking for a great phone holder, these are awesome and cheap.

nah, I wouldn't call the wife annoying.

and reading maps is not her strong suit.

When we are in areas without service I have to pull over, read the map, get back on the road.

As a former Audi owner (you right?), Audi has never been on top of their game when it comes to "technology" in their cars. I mean my 2006 A4 s line still had a cassette player in it...lol. My 2015, even loaded with most bells and whistles doesn't even have a backup camera, but it does have backup sensors....apparently it's an option on an Audi, which is BS when you can buy a Ford Focus and a backup camera comes standard and are standard on most cars now and have been for years.

Always liked the FJ Cruiser. My neighbor has one. I told him if he ever sells it, talk to me first. He rarely drives it and it's more a secondary vehicle for him.

The radio was suggesting the auto industry isn’t expected to push back on the regs as much this time, compared to when it’s been pushed in the past.

More so than ever, auto makers sell to an international market, and the rest of the world at least is trending toward electric

The rest of the world huh? News to me. Maybe the dozen or so rich countries. India and Africa going electric? South America? China? Russia?

China for sure.

edit: And certain countries of South America and Africa I’d imagine as well. Brazil, South Africa, etc. The claim was “more so now than ever”, which I don’t think is at all wrong.

Yeah, turns out maybe the rest of the world isn’t as concerned about doing every stoopid little thing they can, up to and including literally destroying the planet, as a matter of owning the libs.
