What a stupid fucking assessment to make.
Please tell why it entered your half wit thinking spot
Becuase if you're a parent (are you?) and don't think nearly all school shootings involve multiple breakdowns in parenting then i would be shocked.
I guess maybe I know the real stats more than you, a result of training in threat assessment.

To say “deep, it’s bad parenting” while ignoring school pressures, peer pressure, psychological issues or social placement as a factor…. at the same time acting like gun access isn’t the major contributing factor makes you look dumber than most of your posts do
Bingo!
Broken record guy (me) will repeat myself again.
A mentally messed up kid who does NOT have a gun - doesn't shoot anyone.
A messed up kid who does have a gun (or easy access to one) - MAY and too often (once is too often) DOES shoot someone.

Guns exist. We can't live in fantasy world and think wishing they didn't is part of the solution to stopping the frequent occurrence of school shootings. It's not.

Even with the passing of the strictest proposed gun legislation, there will still be guns. They will never disappear from earth and cease to exist.

I'd love less guns on the street, but this kid didn't get his gun of the street. His parents gave it to him. And then ignored numerous red flags. I think i maybe even read he was ordered to go to a mental health evaluation in the 48hrs prior to the shooting but his parents didn't take him.

Right, guns exist and always will in my lifetime.
Let me ask you this, if the kid didn't get the gun from his father, do you think he would have gotten one somewhere else and did what he did?

No doubt very often (if not always) parents play a major role in how and why kids do school shootings but the parents are not the ones doing the actual shooting so how much blame truly lies on them? All? no. Some? Probably. None? Maybe.
That's why I find the Crumbley situation interesting. Let's see how much the "legal system" finds them accountable. Seems if we are to believe what we are being told, part of the debate is if is parents truly did INTENTIONALLY aid and abet him. Call me crazy but I don't believe they did.
That's why I feel there is such a fine line when it comes to making and interpreting laws. Too fine.

If you don't think a parent holds a massive amount of responsibility if the child they are raising shoots up a school then we just aren't going to find common ground on this aspect of the topic.

I want far stricter gun laws too and less illegal firearms on the streets. We agree there. We can focus on that and move past the parenting aspect in it all it seems.

And fwiw gutter the parents are charged with involuntary manslaughter. They aren't being charged with intentionally aiding and abetting him in the murders.

In this particular case, I would agree that the parents are very much culpable

I do not agree that bad parenting is the major factor in all cases

If you're a parent worth a damn, you won't raise kids that become school shooters.

You also won't raise mean children who bully other students.

I went through my daughter's backpack this morning and one of the papers there was a coloring page with the phrase "If you see something, say something." Looks like these kids and parents in Michigan did exactly that but were completely let down by those that they said something to.

It is being claimed in court that the Oxford High School staff actively downplayed reported threats by the shoot shooter two weeks before the shooting. Why the fuck do we have all these safeguards in place if no one is going to do anything about them?!?

https://www.cnn.com/2021/12/09/us/oxfor ... index.html\

On November 16 -- two weeks before the school shooting -- "multiple concerned parents provided communications" to Wolf "with concerns about threats to students made on social media," the lawsuit alleges, without specifying the source of the alleged threats.

CNN has requested comment from Crumbley's attorney and school officials.

The Franzes allege Throne and Wolf assured parents and students that the children were safe at the high school, and discouraged them from discussing or sharing the posts.

"That same day, November 16, 2021, Wolf emailed parents indicating, 'I
know I'm being redundant here, but there is absolutely no threat at the HS ... large assumptions were made from a few social media posts, then the assumptions evolved into exaggerated rumors,'" court documents say.

"Previous to the November 30, 2021 incident, Ethan Crumbley posted threats of bodily harm, including death, on his social media accounts, warning of violent tendencies and murderous ideology," the suit states.
Included in that, the Franzes say, was a photo of a 9mm Sig Sauer handgun Crumbley posted to his public Instagram feed.

On the day of the shooting, when a teacher allegedly found a note depicting a wounded person, a gun and the words "the thoughts won't stop help me," neither counselors nor one of the teachers alerted the police or the school's liaison officer, the suit alleges. At all times that day, after the note was discovered, the suit alleges that Crumbley was allowed to maintain possession of his backpack, which was never searched for a weapon.

In a December 2 video message to the school community, Throne said that there had been no need for disciplinary action following a meeting with Crumbley after the note was discovered.
"I want you to know that, you know, there's just a lot, there's been a lot of talk about the student that was apprehended," Throne said in the message. "That he was, you know, called up to the office and all that kind of stuff. No discipline was warranted."

4 people shot at a mall about 15/20 miles outside of Chicago. Not many details yet.
Any good reason why people are allowed to bring guns in malls? Other than to protect themself from other assholes who bring guns in malls.

Seems two _____________ (lovely gentlemen?, complete assholes?, gang bangers?, you can fill in the blank) had a bit of a dispute and felt the need to fire guns at each other in a crowded mall and hit 3 other people with their gun's bullets.

Gangs gonna bang. Any idea of the guns were legally obtained or not?

So, the idiot assaulting random people in the store bears no culpability, I take it?
