Which has gone swimmingly to this point.
He probably just needed more ball handlers. That's gotta be why he's shooting 9% from 3pt and 41% from the line, 38% fg overall. He needs yesufu out there running around lost. That'll do the trick!
This is just not enjoyable.

just cuz they're not brilliant right now doesn't mean they won't contribute anything.

This time in 2018, Malik still sucked too.

(I guess the difference is Malik was still getting big minutes, rather than the total short leash treatement)
Malik was getting big minutes because he was better than the people behind him.

And Malik was also a lot better than Yesufu and Pettiford are currently and not even remotely close. If senior Yesufu gets close to as good as sophomore Malik then we did good for ourselves.

Because you blaming CB and Och missing shots on not having 2 "ball handlers" out there, when we have a 11 games worth of evidence that they have made shots with only 1 of the 2 smalls out there plenty of times throughout the season, is a dumb take imo. Nobody enjoys being wrong.

He's earned it more than Dave, no way around that.

Kind of surprised it took this long. Dave has not been good all season. Even his FT% is down 20 points. That’s all mental. Self has given him more chances than he has most players.

Self kind of made it seem that KJ and Clemence might get some run too.

Wonder if we will see them get some of Jalens minutes at the 4?

Yeah. This is mostly about Dave.

We just need better play out of the position. I still think Dave can pull it together, but we are in January now and it seems Self is getting as nervous as the fanbase about that actually happening.

KJ and Clemence can do some good things for us, might as well see what we've got.

Not sure but Self said if they’re not getting production at the big spots, they’re too talented to sit on the bench.

Being a Center is all attitude. You are surrounded every time you get the ball or at least have to make strong moves in isolation. DMAC has stone hands and this puts him at a disadvantage on entry passes where he must concentrate first on catching the ball, then controlling it. Then moving. It is ponderous not being instinctive with that kind of thing. He is also not a fast man and seems to play under the rim somehow. I think his ceiling is totally dependent on his fragile mental state. He had the ball liberated from his hands two or three times by holding it at shoulder height while being doubled Saturday. Still.

Agreed. When they've gotten clock they haven't played like some of our freshmen of the past. Sure, they have their weak spots, but might as well use them now if the position needs it.

But, I mostly hope this helps Dave.

We should all be able to agree that Dave is our best option at the 5 even though we may disagree what kind of role he should have. We have national title aspirations, so Dave playing at his top level is very welcome on this team.

Dave at his best is inconsistent. I think his inability to be a reliable entry pass in High-Low sets makes him a bench piece only, if we are being truthful. He can be useful as a bench piece and against slower teams.

I wonder if this is a sign that this is definitely Dave's last season at KU.

It should be. Both parties should be ready to move on.

Dave had so much promise out of high school. Coming to KU was probably the wrong choice basketball wise. Stuck behind Dok for a few years, and now he just hasn't improved as much as he should have after almost 4 entire years in Lawrence.

Agreed. Not sure we can win a national title without Dave being productive.
