Man, I haven’t been to Panera in years.

I do like the concept, of a bakery deli or whatever, but yea they kinda leave a little to be desired as far as execution.

And apparently, for a bunch of panini sammiches and pre-made soup, they’re overpriced now too.

The fast-casual sector seems like it's the one with the highest increases in cost. (though they've all gone up)

And there seems to be too much pride in a restaurant serving a lunch that is "light".

One or the other I can handle, not both.

Yes, but there are several local chick food places that you don't leave as hungry as you came.

Anything from St. Louis has a good chance of sucking.

Panera is basically just a modern Applebees. Their food has very little unique flavor at all. I could buy each of their sandwiches and close my eyes and not be able to tell which one is which. So bland which makes it a big hit here in the Midwest.

I miss NYC corner bodegas and their delis.
Subs packed to the brim with Boar's Head meat and cheese for 5 bucks.
How much is a Panera panini now days, 12 dollars?

Thanks, douche.

My mom recently passed.

She happened to choke to death on a pick 2. It was either the bacon turkey bravo or the broccoli cheddar soup that got her, I’m honestly not sure.

Or maybe the baguette side option.

…jk LOL my mom’s fine. I shouldn’t joke like that. And besides she’s from Michigan.

13 bucks looks like you can get a bacon turkey bravo and broccoli cheddar soup.
She's usually cheaper than that.

paired with a red pepper lobster bisque, it’s quite the tasty meal

Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

Yum.

Little corner delis and such can be so good.

I visited this booty call on the east coast, and we went to amazing Jewish deli. Pastrami on rye, piled like a foot tall, house made tater salad and pickles and everything, delish.

I miss Scholtzsky's, not a close one around or maybe they've all closed up in KC? My go to is Pickleman's at 75th/Wornall or the downtown location. Them are some good samwiches. Planet Sub is good as well, but I've had it so many times going back to Yellow Sub in Larry, it's just not as good.

I had Scholtzsky's last week in Vegas for the first time in 15(ish) years.

Wasn't great.

I think I may be the only person that would NOT put Yellow Sub in the top 20 on my list of "favorite" Lawrence restaurants in the mid 80s.
I didn't feel it was bad by any means but I never understood the obsession some/many people had with it. To each their own.

P.S. I don't know if a hamburger counts as a sandwich but if it does, then it's my favorite sandwich. If it doesn't, then I probably have to say Corned Beef on an Onion Roll is my favorite.
