Everyone likes to say “KU won’t reach their potential until their bigs play better.” Part of that is because a Bill Self team typically has a good big man.

Well, we don’t necessarily need one. Or at least playing through one. Baylor hasn’t had a good big for how long? They won a national title with role players at the 5 because they played through their talented guards.

We need a good big THIS SEASON because our guards, top to bottom, aren't Baylor 2021 quality.
I'd also add, we hoisted a ton of 3's last season compared to seasons of past, even though we weren't that great at shooting them, so it's not like Self isn't trying something.

While Dave was not good - he didn't really effect this loss tonight as much as plenty of others.
The reason why we say we need good Dave is because we know how good he can be - he was our best player from January on last year - and while it's Jekyl and Hyde and very frustrating - our best is when he can play well on both ends.

Part of the problem is Self would rather Dave get paint touches than all 3 of those guards taking double digit shots every game.

Ochai needs to learn there's more to being a senior leader than launching 3s. Worst individual defensive effort I have seen since Vick's last game.

McCormack isn't the focal point of this team. But he is important to attack the post so that it can free the perimeter. It is a basic concept.
