I think we talked about it in the awesomely bad movies thread. On one hand it's an Oscar-winning production of the classic vampire story with brilliant performances by Anthony Hopkins and Gary Oldman

but on the other, it's British Bill and Ted with fog machines and vampire tits.
Watch the John Wick's. Pretty easily the best action movies of the last 5 years, which is a dying genre outside of comic book movies.

i liked them waaay more than i was expecting

plus, i think Keanu does his own stunt work
Yes. Did for Matrix 4, too. 57 years old.

John Wick 4 should be around the corner. In a different time, that series may have become the Matrix. And the John Wick Trilogy is certainly better than the original Matrix Trilogy as a whole.

New Matrix was... Weird. Too meta. I don't want a movie to remind me I am watching a movie - I want it to do the opposite.

It's like I'm out to eat at an old favorite restaurant, but the owner and chef are sitting right by my table arguing about the restaurant. And the chef is saying "I don't want to make this" and the owner is saying "you have to" so the chef just throws something together without any passion and you're completely aware of it.

We have DirecTV Stream.

Pros:

* Substantially cheaper than traditional cable
* Really nice to be able to watch whatever's in your package from anywhere, on 30 devices
* Interface is fine (even better on some devices than others, oddly, based on the ability to sort by DirecTV channel number as opposed to name)

Cons:

* You'll be behind friends with traditional cable. Sucks for sports.
* If you have two TVs in the same room (or within earshot of each other), the streams won't be perfectly synced.
* If you can't select by channel number, it requires a good amount of customization/learning curve to be able to move efficiently through things.

The first couple cons are close to a dealbreaker, except I don't want to go through the brain damage of changing everything AGAIN.

Yes.
We have ATT as a service so we are grandfathered in with a steep Direct TV stream discount and free HBO Max.

Changing channels is the thing you'll have to get over the most. Sometimes it takes a moment to load...and it's not due to internet speed. And then, also, you may fall slightly behind in live sports to where, if you're texting or KCrim game threading, you'll have to be aware of 30 seconds ahead spoilers.

But we are saving around 40-50 a month.

No. It is on Amazon Prime, correct? Just finished last season of Witcher on Netflix as well as the Hawkeye series on Disney+ so I could go for a new series.

If you like believable futuristic space programs, you'll love this. Brilliant novels, excellent cinematography and special effects, and the acting is top rate. Lots of action.

The sports bar where I watch the Chiefs has Direct TV and Sunday Ticket. I'm assuming dish and not streaming. They had one TV in the corner with Red Zone on and it was showing touchdowns for the Bangles before the "real time" broadcast of the actual game.

I enjoyed the two seasons of "Mars" on National Geographic so it sounds like I would enjoy this as well. I'll give it a try, thanks!

I worked on creating the software that powers these:

So, when your team scores, the red light goes starts flashing and buzzing. Fun, right?

Except for your situation. Because the light starts going before the actual score happens on your TV.

My boss at the time asked me how we fix that. I blinked a few times and gave him a blank stare.

The widespread adoption of legalized sports betting, and the proliferation of in-game betting, is going to be a boon for the cable companies.

Great info.

I think I’ll stick with DTV satellite for now. The reason I asked is that ATT recently put fiber in my ‘hood and I need to switch my Spectrum service over to ATT… Thought it might be worth going to streaming while I was at it. I’ll be getting the Gig service. Speeds should be solid.

I just switched to the Hulu, espn, Disney package....and have Netflix, prime, paramount + and the cowboy channel +.

we shall see how that goes

I had fubo. it was pretty terrible really....but still half the price of cable. But I never actually watched it....just the other shit. So, we'll try the Hulu package so I can keep espn.

We're watching Only Murders in the Building right now. It is not Mrs. Fish's cup of tea, but I've really enjoyed it.

That's awesome.

I've been working on getting it so I can quickly transfer my pick to my palm, held in place by my pinky, and back to holding it with fingers. I wonder if it would be easier or harder with that thing...
