AQI at 152 in SLC this morning

could sure use some sort of front coming through, even if it doesn’t bring any moisture

a few things

1) too many fucking people. the population boom since i was at BYU in the early 2010s is absurd (fastest growing in the country)

2) too many ignorant, selfish fucks that think they need big trucks and big SUVs to drive around town or commute along the Wasatch Front

3) too many people that don’t care, or don’t have the means to switch from wood-burning heat sources

4) we literally sit in a bowl (though you wouldn’t know it looking west across the valley since the mountains are obscured by the pollution), so the wind and weather patterns are abnormal

4) related to #3, we get several weeks/year where there is a temperature inversion. it’s warmer up in the mountains at the ski resorts than it is in the valley. by winter’s end, there’ll likely be a “bathtub ring” of pollution that has stained the snow in the mountains

between the winter inversions and the summer wildfire smoke, SLC is pretty miserable for a decent chunk of the year. add to that the current drought and dropping levels of the Great Salt Lake (exposed lake bed with toxins that become airborne), and it’s easy to envision a not-so-distant future where much of the valley is basically uninhabitable

Damn that sucks. Definitely get the issue with #2. Not a huge issue where I live, but always cringe when I see a "city" truck. Always being driving by a Karen of a dude with a small dick .

i actually wanted a Tacoma, specifically for the fuel economy, but they just aren’t powerful enough to pull (or stop) the camper…no mid-size trucks or SUVs are

How do you know all these guys have small dicks? Nvm, don't answer that.

It's ironic though, that some people justify what's acceptable differently for others than they do for themselves.

Not specifically Trad since he provided additional details. But if it's okay for him/whoever to have a gas guzzling full size SUV to haul his happy fun time camper around, then it's okay for small dick guy Karen to haul his sack of giant dildos around town all day.

Sorry, just how i feel. Not sure why you think everyone who doesn't agree with you is dumb, though.

Either large SUVs/large trucks are bad or they aren't. Finding a way to justify it for your own pleasure purposes is fine, but someone else may value using them to drive to the grocery store (or whatever they want to use them for) similarly to your personal value of pulling a camper or whatever.

Personally, i like them, although i don't currently own one (we own 2 explorers). I do quite a bit of driving 15k-ish miles per year, so i like being in a larger vehicle. Although i had a lincoln mkz prior to getting another explorer, and it worked just fine other than when looking at Ag RE in hilly areas that were only accessible by dirt/gravel roads.

one activity literally requires a certain type of vehicle

the other doesn’t

feelings have nothing to do with it

One activity (exploring and camping) is for personal entertainment purposes.

Like i said, you value exploring and camping. Others value being comfortable while on the road. Each person's feelings are valid. I don't care if you own 6 SUVs/trucks. But it's tone deaf to criticize others for doing the same just because you don't feel they need to do it. Maybe they feel that you don't need to explore or pull a camper?

maybe those others that the whackjob likes to trash are also using their vehicle to pull stuff.

Maybe they think he should throw a tent in his camry instead of being a hypocrite?
