It is kinda the point though. Being run by the government leaves it vulnerable to crap like this, because the government can at times be dysfunctional, and is more prone to being so than a private company.

It's just an argument to argue and not based in reality. If their stupid argument held across the board then restaurants can fire servers and dishwashers since people should be able to carry their plates and wash them when done.

Well, yes. I just don't think that the taxpayer should have to subsidize people seeing Mt Rushmore.

That said, as Trad said, the subject has kinda gotten away from the matter at hand... i.e Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter influencing the POTUS to waste a crapload of taxpayer money, harm a number of things that we rely on the government for (whether or not we should being the other subject), and hurt the workers relying on their paychecks. And it's all to get funding to build a wall that the POTUS promised we wouldn't need funding for in the first place, and it would be raising the already record-high deficit that is apparently so bad that federal workers shouldn't get cost-of-living raises to just keep their real salary. That's really, really messed up.

MFP is designed to help producers significantly impacted by actions of foreign governments resulting in the loss of traditional exports...

The partial shutdown of the federal government dragged into its third workweek Monday, with no end in sight.

Weekend talks between Vice President Pence and congressional staffers produced no breakthrough. Although President Trump characterized the talks as "productive," Democrats said there was no progress.

The White House did formalize its request for $5.7 billion to fund Trump's border wall. In a letter to lawmakers, the administration said that sum would pay for 234 miles of new barrier — at a cost of roughly $24 million per mile.

The administration is also seeking hundreds of millions of dollars for additional Border Patrol agents, immigration judges, detention beds, drug detection equipment, and to address what it calls "urgent humanitarian needs...

This coming Friday is a scheduled payday for federal workers. If the impasse is not resolved by then, some 800,000 federal employees will miss being paid for the first time during the shutdown.

If the standoff continues into the weekend, it will be the longest shutdown in recent history, with the potential to disrupt tax refund checks and February food stamps.
