Saints are in the worst salary cap situation in the NFL right now.
Could be one major reason why Payton is stepping away - they could be in for a couple rough seasons.

I don't know their situation, but Rodgers in Tennessee might be interesting. Tannehill is getting them nowhere with them. I think they are a bit over the cap, but I'm sure could make it work. They have the best running game in the league, an above average defense, an easy division. Tannehill has a huge cap hit, but he's an average NFL QB that SOMEBODY will take on. Denver, Pittsburgh or somebody might be willing to take him on.

But Rodgers may want to avoid AFC with Mahomes, Herbert, Allen, Burrow and others

Agree with Newton in that I think Rodgers stays in the NFC.

It's actually interesting to go look at all the contract. Mahomes signed in KC until he's 36. Just absurd. And if he's still good, they'll sign him again.

I don't know about their financial situation but I wouldn't be shocked to see Favre like deja vu in which Rodgers plays for the Vikings. Yes, I would be very surprised but not shocked.

Looking at the details of Mahomes' contract, I think it's pretty clear the plan is to rework (and likely extend) the deal after the 2026 season.

Will probably look to turn what is essentially a 5 year / $252M deal into an 8-10 year deal to help smooth out some of the yearly numbers. If he stays healthy and continues to perform at or clos to his current level, I think KC feels fine giving him a contract until age 42

One of the big problems for Rodgers is that the best division for him to be in is the NFC North. 3 garbage teams that essentially gives him a near free path to the division title every year.

AFC West - Mahomes & Herbert
AFC East - Allen & Belichick
AFC North - Burrow, Jackson, Pittsburgh
AFC South - Probably the easiest of the AFC, but you still have Tenn and Indy with great RB's, Houston with a TBD Watson situation and Jacksonville is supposed to have one of the next great arms/qbs.

NFC West - Absolutely loaded, no real landing spot anyway
NFC East - Not a believer in Dallas, never will be. Washington is actually an interesting landing spot for Rodgers. Not sure if him and Rivera would mesh.
NFC South - All depends on Brady. If he retires all teams in that division could be interesting spots for Rodgers

Plus, you have to consider which teams are willing to deal with this dumbdumb

https://www.cnn.com/2022/01/26/sport/aa ... index.html

"Because I don't watch the news or don't subscribe to the same type of mainstream narrative at times; and have decided to take my own personal health and responsibility for my health in my hands; and did my research and looked into things; and also my association with other people who have done similar things, there's anger thrown my way but the root of that I think is fear."

Rodgers said he had been "insulated" and had not seen any alleged hatred directed towards him but took accountability for being unintentionally "divisive" during the season.

"I realize that I've been divisive this season by my vaccination status and by my willingness to talk about it -- to talk about the research that I've done and my own opinions -- I take accountability for that," Rodgers said.

"I've never wanted to be a divisive, polarizing figure on this. I've wanted to encourage people and inspire people to think for themselves, to take their health in their own hands ... hopefully, I've inspired people."

Hopefully you haven't, you stupid son a of a bitch.

The biggest roster move for the Vikings to compete for the North next season isn't one they get to make.

( unless gutter's take happens )

There are better odds that gutter plays QB for the Bears next season.

No, not really. The other 3 teams are likely going through changes, but the Packers situation doesn't look that great, either. Likely going to be a crap division, and Vikings may actually have the best all around roster by Week 1.

Rodgers is 16-10-1 against Vikings; 18-6 against the Lions; 22-5 against the Bears. Bears are such a joke considering how big their following is. And everything in the world has been said about the Lions.

Honestly if the Vikings had consistent kicking this year, hard to believe they wouldn't have at least beat out Philly for the last WC spot.

I agree that once Green Bay dismantles what they have to dismantle in order to get close to the salary cap that the Vikings will have the best roster. What they do with it is another question but they have some shiny toys for sure.

I don't think "who else is in the division" matters to Rodgers at all. We have seen numerous times where multiple teams from a division make the playoffs. We were a 3rd down rush away from three AFC West teams being in the playoffs this year.

Rodgers is looking for a team that is closest to winning a Super Bowl in the next 1-3 years. It doesn't matter what division they are in. He is about to be a back-to-back MVP winner. He is right to believe that him being added to a good team will result in them getting into the playoffs.

He has to be eyeing the NFC South. Bucs and Saints can make playoffs with a quarterback. Tampa is a good culture fit.

Heard Booger McFarland today claim that Tennessee will likely be interested in Rodgers. That does make sense on a lot of levels. Great RB and top half of the league defense in one of the easier divisions in football. Indy has a great RB, but who really believes in Carson Wentz? While I think Watson probably plays again in the NFL, I don't think that happens in Houston. Lawrence and Jacksonville have potential, but I'd bet they are 2-3 years away from being a real threat. Rodgers is probably done by then.
